REVIEW Blood Assassin by Alexandra Ivy

Book Two of The Sentinel series I don't think is good as the first book but in it's own right still very good. It's an exciting story but a little anti-climatic at the end, but it does have some pretty good stuff spread throughout the book and when Fane finally pulls his head out of his ass he is pretty romantic.

Fane and Serra are a great couple. They both knew instantly there was an attraction between them, but only Fane is hesitant pushing Serra away. Finally Serra has had enough and with Fane saying he was leaving to become a teacher at the monastery in Tibet she is determined to move on and forget him. Fane being and obstinate, stubborn and powerful Sentinel tries to keep his distance from Serra and with his bond broken with Callie it's even harder to keep his distance. All the sudden Serra is missing and Fane suddenly realizes, and I mean suddenly, that life without her would be a fate worse than death. Even without a formal bond their bond of love is strong enough to help him track her down. When he finds her she has been kidnapped and she is being blackmailed into helping her kidnapper find his kidnapped daughter.

Bas, talk about complex, you don't know whether to sympathize with him or just hate him for the bastard he is. Bas is a witch with a dark past and is willing to sacrifice everything to get his daughter back. He does show a softer side but his asshole douchery out weights that but he's not the overall villain and it leaves an open ending for him and also for Wolfe and Lana who have their own side story that has me giddy with excitement for their story. The whole searching for the missing daughter went on way too long. I love the characters and I love the whole universe and I plan to continue reading the series.

New to Jade Kerrion I had no idea what to expect. Well if she writes her sci-fi as well as she has written her contemporary it is definitely something I want to read. I love me my sci-fi. Both of these books, Aroused and Desired, are very good. They are different in troupes but each is good in it's own right. Aroused is about a new beginning and being able to trust again. Desired is about discovering new dreams and not giving up on love. The characters in both are relatable and loveable. I didn't like Desired as much as Aroused but still it makes me want more Jade Kerrion.

Madelyn Porter--Rite of Passion
To escape he plans on seducing his beautiful captor.

Shiloh Walker has a couple of holiday themed novellas out there one of them being A Present for Christmas. A light semi fluffy, and I mean that is a good way, piece about two people getting back together. Already existing couple David and Cris are in love but David just might ruin it all by moving to another state for his job. Cris loves Alaska and she can't see herself living anywhere else and turns David down when asked to move with him. Nursing her broken heart Cris goes of to her friends cabin for a bit. David at the airport realizes what is the most important thing.

It's a sweet and a little bit naughty story great for any late Christmas gift for a any fan of Shiloh Walker.

Another one from Shiloh Walker this year is Every Last Fantasy. It was originally released ten years ago but was revamped and given a pretty new cover. Two peoples lives are intertwined, destined to be together and given a second chance. But can they interpret the dreams and clear up the confusion and make up for lost time or will they just let lost memories cloud their judgment.  It is another light piece but a great one.

I loved it a great second chance story, and those are my favorite.

Carrie Ann Ryan has a whole series based around holidays, Holiday Montana.  It centers around one of the predominate families in town.  The town slowly reveals itself to be a center place for everything pertaining to the holidays. Every book takes place during a holiday or a major childhood "made-up" figure including Santa, the tooth fairy and the sandman. I loved reading this series, every book as it's own bit of magic that makes it unique from the others. If spaced out right you have a book to read at every part of the year.

My love for Sydney Bristol. One of my favorite BDSM themed writers, for the sheer fact that every one of her scenes are plausible and always pique my curiosity. She has out a new series out for this holiday season, Holiday Engagement series with two out now and having both of them I knew I would love them and I do. The first Festive Seduction is as the name implies an seductive little number involving a string of Christmas lights and avoiding the relatives. Together moving past a bad event that could have ruined other relationship just made theirs stronger. It's no surprise that the book ends in an engagement but the events leading to that is what's important.

The second book in the series Electric Engagement is definitely
that with violet wand use and a creative rope web. I loved it it has great visuals, it was like a movie playing out in my head. Wanting to be pushed to her limits things do get intense and if you don't like knife play or electro-stimulation you might not like it. Once again, I loved it! Carla is a girl after my own heart a bit of a SAM and a lover of rope play, sigh, and Ryan yumm.

There you go a brief summary of the books I loved this past month. I hope if you try them you enjoy them as much as I have.

REVIEW Watch Me by Cynthia Eden

Disregarding the fact that it is one of the rules of any bodyguard is to not fall in love with their charges; that Whitney Houston movie really charged up a now much desired troupe. Cynthia Eden has written these to show the closeness between the two and that it can lead to some delicious sexual tension. Overall this was a good read. It had great sexual tension and enjoyable suspense.

Gwen and Chance have had history. When Chance was just beginning he needed to make all the right contacts and Gwen's father was one of those contacts. Highered to keep her safe Chance was the only bodyguard Gwen didn't try to escape from. From the first moment they both felt a strong attraction, but Chance couldn't risk his job to give in to the lust he felt for her. But this went bad and he thought he lost his chance. Now some months later Gwen has a stocker and Chance makes it his duty to protect her. Chance finally is able to admit just how much he really wants and has wanted Gwen, but ill timed words from her Father can ruin it all, and when Gwen's stocker turns out to be not what is expected Chance could lose Gwen forever.

Two more books are to follow and I look forward to reading them.

REVIEW Marked by Rebecca Zanetti

I truly loved this series. Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protectors series is the epitome of Alpha males. From Fated with Talon to this newest one with, finally, Zane you have strong, devoted, Alpha males who when they love they love hard. I, like many others were very excited for this book's release, some of us have been waiting since the very first introduction of Zane and Janie in Fated. Marked is a game changer it's the end of the Dark Protectors series but it is by no means permanently over. Rebecca Zanetti has several spin offs planned the first series being The Realm Enforcers centering around the witch Kellach Dunne.

Zane and Janie have come along way, and with peace talks starting it is finally revealed just what Zane is, a big secret throughout the series. I guessed what it was back in Hunted, but I guess I'm just that good because several of my other Rebels were very surprised by the outcome. (NO SPOILERS!) The Demons and The Kurjans can not be trusted. The peace talks have started and everyone has stated what they want and with that all out in the air Janie's life is put even more in danger. Zane has a plan but he hasn't filled in Janie so when the Kurjans do a mass attack on the Kayrs Zane pops up and kidnaps Janie. He saves her life but that really doesn't matter he ends up stealing her shoes to keep her there in the Alaskan wilderness until he gets other things in motion, like finding his mother and saving his two younger brothers. Humorous scene when Zane finally brings Janie back to the Kayrs compound.

The virus debonding the mates gets airborne and everything seriously gets worse. It's looks like the end of the vampires but miracles tend to happen when things are looking the darkest. This book was absolutely everything I hoped it would be.

REVIEW Cold as Ice by Charlene Groome

In all honesty this book wasn't as bad as some of the other reviews say, well at least in my opinion. I have read my fare share of sports romance and while this one isn't quite up to pare with Susan Elizabeth Phillips or Deirdre Martin it had it's own unique quality that most people aren't liking. The changing of POV can be confusing but that happens...a lot, especially if you are switching between a bunch of characters. Cold as Ice isn't that bad I didn't confused it was obvious who we are following at the time. Okay now for what I didn't like. I can understand a woman's need to want kids so bad it plagues her sleep and that's all she thinks about, but Carla is unreasonably impatient. As career driven as she is you would think she would be intelligent enough to know she can't have both with out one suffering a little. Devin, I really liked him, he's a former playboy at the point in his life where he is ready to settle down.He definitely has the bad boy secretive image but with a soft spot and regularly spends his free time at the Children's Hospital.

Carla tries to push her attraction to the newest Vancouver Warriors Defenseman away by attacking him on air questioning his need to be part of the team. Devin is determined to prove her wrong and to prove to her that the attraction between them isn't bad either. All the while in between Carla battling her need to have a baby she is dealing with a struggle at the office, with people being laid off and a younger sports commentator trying to take her job and Devin father has contacted her to get her help in reconnecting with his son. Devin's father left him when he was little and he lost faith in lots of things but with his supportive mother and then later a step father Devin knows what he wants and reconnecting with his father is last on that list. Carla soon puts her job on the line and the young new commentator is determined to have her spot and the topic is Devin and his father. She needs an interview or she loses it all. Can she risk love for her job or will she finally admit something is more important.

REVIEW An Oath Taken by Diana Cosby

Wow this book was everything I hoped for and more. A woman dressed as a man, sabotage and double dealings, and a strong Scottish woman meeting her match in an English nobleman how could it go wrong...it doesn't it's great!

.... Oops sorry I got distracted by the hunk on the cover.

Lady Elizabeth Armstrong needs to rescue her father and her brother from the dungeon of Ravenmoore Castle. They were captured and by the English castellan a cruel man who fortunately was killed and replaced with another. Elizabeth sees her opportunity to get into the castle when the new castellan catches her trying to rob him and thinking Elizabeth is a young man Sir Nicholas Beringar offers her a position as his squire. Against the wishes of her guardian she accepts, she will do whatever it takes to save her brother and father.

Lady Elizabeth is hesitant to believe Nicholas is a good and fair man, but with his actions everyday it shows her he is a man of his word and nothing like the last castellan. He even goes as far as helping prove the man was lying to the King and smuggling goods out of the country for his own gain. Soon even when questioned by her brother she admits he is a good man and trusts him to keep his word. An instant attraction is followed slowly by more deeper feelings, which at times is a little awkward for Nicholas.

The entire book is amusing and entertaining and toward the end I was at the edge of my seat. I would recommend this book for any lover of historical romance.

                                             crying wolf cover (1).jpg

I was very presently surprised by this story. The narration was like I was sitting in front of two people who were taking turns telling me a their sides of the story. And I loved the story It felt a little rushed at points but I really don't think it could have been executed any other way and have it work so smoothly. Grace and Hunter are a great pair with amazing chemistry. I already love the brothers and look forward to the next installment.

(i am pressed for time today so as much as I loved this book I must cut the review short)

Then a pure, sweet scent drifted my way and my wolf wanted to know where it was coming from so he could roll around in it. Parker was looking over my shoulder with a welcoming smile on his face. A growl crept up my throat at the flirty gleam in his eyes as I turned to see who had caught his attention.
She was the opposite of any woman I’d ever fucked in the past. Everything I’d thought I would never want. Her tiny frame looked practically breakable by human standards, let alone a wolf’s. I had to be at least a full foot taller than she was and more than a hundred pounds heavier. She looked nothing like our she-wolves, who were tall, lithe and athletic. But even though she was small, she had curves that were just begging to be touched.
Licked.
Sucked.
Bitten.
Her full breasts strained against the red fabric of the T-shirt she was wearing, the one with my brand stretched across her chest. The only thing that even remotely resembled the women of my pack was the long, brown hair that flowed down her back and the brown eyes that blinked up at me. But even those were better somehow. Her hair gleamed in the sun that streaked through the windows and her eyes held a softness I was unaccustomed to seeing. They also flashed with awareness as chemistry arced between us. I heard her breath hitch as a blush crept up her neck and spread across her cheeks.
She ducked her head for a moment and took a deep breath before she looked up again. Only this time, her gaze didn’t meet mine as she smiled over my shoulder at my brother. The beast inside me, who’d been howling in appreciation as I’d been staring at her, quickly turned to snarling at the sight of her smiling for another man.

I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.
