But where does that leave Nick, stuck in a between place where he still has to figure his shit out and reconcile with himself what he had to do to make that bust happen and rediscovering who he is as Nick Turner DEA agent. Savannah Fields has been in a three year abusive relationship with Butch, hell it wasn't even a sexual relationship she's a nurse so he kept claim to her because she was useful. She even moved across the country because he threatened to kill her family if she didn't go with him but now she finally doing what she knows she should have done long ago, she's leaving.
Nick and Savannah met in a coffee shop when Nick was the only person willing to stand up to Butch and stop him from dragging Savannah out. In the days after they would met in the morning for coffee and get to know each other better but two weeks later Savannah shows up at Nick's door completely battered. From then on Nick knows just how much she means to him and he'll stop at nothing to stop Butch from touching her again.
Overall, such a good read. Call me old fashioned but I love a good damsel in distress story in the end Savannah was no slouch she began healing emotionally and became strong again. Nick pretty much devoted himself to Savannah, he was protective without being overbearing. It wasn't too angsty it had some humor in there to break it up, and I loved the romance between Nick and Savannah.
