ARC REVIEW Lethal Redemption by April Hunt

Steele Ops #2, Another stellar book from April Hunt. This can be read as a standalone the first book has no connection to this other than characters and a few mentions but you miss nothing by not reading it except skipping a really good book. After Grace's father died when she was five her mother moved them into a commune the older Grace got the more she realized it was a cult. When she was thirteen something drastic happened and she ended up with her aunt and three cousins. Cade Wright and his sister were part of the Steele family by choice, Cade was there when Grace showed up at their doorstep. Grace and Cade started as friends but soon became more they fell in love, they even had their future all planned out but then Cade changed the plan without a word and left Grace heartbroken. It's been almost a decade and not a day goes by that Cade regrets his decision but Grace still hurts they can't even be in the same room together without verbally sparring.

Steele Ops the private security firm run by her cousins get hired to do a job she gets pulled in for her expertise on the subject, the subject of the Order of the New Dawn, the cult where she spent her childhood. Unfortunately the only way in is to play the prodigal daughter and there is no way her cousins it Cade is letting her go in alone so Cade poses as her fiance. Now Grace has to face all the terrors of her past while dealing with this mission and her and Cade's relationship. What they find out about OND goes deep and gets very personal for Grace. But Grace has Cade he's always been there for her in the past and he wants to be there for her now he just has to convince her he's not going to run away this time. 

Overall, this was such a great book, the characters were so likeable Grace is smart quick with an insult, Cade is sexy, strong, and over protective but he knows Grace can handle herself; the plot is engaging and if life had let me I probably would have finished in one sitting, the romance was emotional and hot I love them together, it was all so good. I can't wait for the Steele brother's to get their stories.     

ARC REVIEW Deadly Obsession by April Hunt

Steele Ops #1, This was a great book I loved the characters and the story, it is a great start to a new series. Zoey Wright has CHD (Congenital Heart Defect) it doesn't make her weak it just makes her all that much more of a bad ass. Zoey has been protected her whole life by her adoptive mother and her brother, Cade. Working in the crime lab was not getting her anywhere so she transferred to crime scene tech. Knox Steele finally left the Army Rangers but instead of going home and working with his brother start up their private security firm he decides he going to go to be a Hollywood bodyguard. Despite not wanting to come home he gets pulled home and his first night back he stumbles across a dead body, unfortunately this is not the first one DC has seen like this, the news has already dubbed the killer a catchy name and Zoey fits the type the killer likes. Cade and Knox try and get Zoey to back off but she just digs her heels in, she can help catch this killer even if all she does is collect evidence. 

Meanwhile Zoey and Knox try not to give into temptation. Zoey has had a crush on Know for just about forever and Knox has tried to keep his distance but once he realizes Zoey isn't safe he's going to protect her not matter what she says. But being so close to her makes it hard to resist her and before you know it they give in and fall into bed. The killer has an obsession and when he finds out his obsession is with someone else he loses it and any semblance of control he had is gone. That just makes it easier for Cade, the DCPD and Knox to find him or will they be too late?

Overall, this was a great read. Knox has issues with guilt he has to work out with his brothers and that was a nice side story to help with character development and establish what kind of people his brothers are, I look forward to their books. Cade really comes off as an overprotective ass and he has this on again off again going with a Steele cousin and best friend to Zoey, Grace, who is FBI profiler; I hope their story is next. I love April Hunt's writing it's descriptive and has a great third person narrative.     

ARC REVIEW Hot Target by April Hunt

Alpha Security #3.5, Wow this was only 98 pages!? Dang so much happens it feels like it was much longer than that. A very action packed novella. I was very happy to see Rachel and Logan finally get a story. This is fine as a standalone, their history is briefly explain since they met in the first book but goes into more detail about what happened after the first book with them. I love April Hunt she has great action, romance, and suspense; I thoroughly enjoy every book of her's that I've read. Of all the bad things that happened in Honduras Rachel and Carly becoming friends was the best thing that come out of the experience. Everything was going fine in their lives Carly was in Vegas working and began to serious date a guy but suddenly Rachel receives a panicked voice mail from Carly asking for help. Rachel drops everything and runs off to Vegas. 

The books starts with Rachel in LVPD lock up her one call was to Charlie who was suppose to come and get her. Charlie instead sends the closest team member to her rescue unfortunately it's the guy she just had a one night stand with and snuck out before he woke up, Logan, who just arrived in town for a working vacation. Once he gets Rachel out their is an attempt on her life and Logan and Rachel have to run for their lives. It's obvious that Carly discovered something she should have and now Rachel and Logan have to find out what it is that Carly discovered and stop who ever took Carly from doing whatever it is that Carly caught them doing. Logan and Rachel have a pretty intense heart to heart while disguised as Elvis and Priscilla. 

The romance burns pretty hot between them, Logan is all in and has been waiting for Rachel to catch up, but Rachel is having a hard time realizing some could want someone like her who's gone through what she's gone through and Logan has a fun time showing her how wrong she is and exposing all his vulnerabilities to show her just how damaged he really is as well. Overall it was a fantastic story. It also introduced two new characters (hopefully they will get stories of their own).   

ARC REVIEW Hard Justice by April Hunt

Mmmmmm finally Charlie and Vince's story! Book three in the Alpha Security series, Hard Justice, gives us an exciting and banter filled story. In this one we find out all about Charlie and her secretive past and how she became of of the first Alpha operatives. You can tell from the first time Vince and Charlie butted heads and pissed each other off that they were meant for each other; the sexual chemistry is combustible. Neither of them want to admit to the other that the attraction is there in fact they don't even want to admit it to themselves.

Charlie Sparks was born Charlotte Hughes, but she ran from that life as fast as she could and started over. Now her past has come back and forced Charlie's secrets out. The DHS has an inside man in the Franconi crime family they have lost contact with and several young women have disappeared from Franconi's nightclubs. They want Charlie to go in and find the evidence to pin it on Franconi and find out if their operative has been compromised. Charlie's the logical choice because she's family. Charlie has her reasons for never wanting to set foot in Miami again but the missing woman hits to close to home and as much as she hates it she agrees.

Vince Franklin is the only member of Alpha Security available to assist Charlie in this case, and it has him worried just who is Charlie and what happened all those years ago and is it safe for her to come back? To Vince his only job is to act the part of Charlie's fiancee and to watch her back but he oversteps the boundaries when he digs into her past before she's ready to tell him. The sexual chemistry finally breaks when they play the part of an engaged couple and the more Vince finds out about Charlie the more he comes to care for her and Vince finally earns Charlie's trust. Only together can they get to the bottom of the troubles brewing in Miami.    

Overall, April Hunt weaves a great story that had me second guessing myself throughout the whole book.    

ARC REVIEW Holding Fire by April Hunt

April Hunt's series Alpha Security book two Holding Fire starts out with a bang in bed and out of it. Elle was running away from her problems a narcissistic, controlling, and manipulative father and her no good cheating ex-fiance. Elle joined an organization that helps build medical facilities after natural disasters. Elle and her best friend were sent to Thailand after they had finished their jobs and before they went home they detoured a bit and ended up in a bar and Elle ended up spending the night with a hunkalicious American. The next morning however things got weird. Trey Hanson was sent to Thailand for a job but before he got his orders on who he had to protect he met an attractive blonde and had one wild night of the best sex of his life. The next morning after a "random attack" she sprinted and Trey finds out she is the one he is suppose to be protecting.

Holding Fire was a good entertaining read not as good as the first one but still good. Elle is one of those characters that makes you want to slap up side the head. She just escaped her father's machinations and is finally free and independant and she won't let anything get in her way to maintain it even Trey who is trying to save her life. Trey's fascination and insta-lust turns to love as he gets to know Elle. Elle, even though she has been trying to convince herself otherwise, falls in love with Trey but she is so determined to be independent and Trey just wants her to be happy, Elle just may ruin everything.

Elle's father is a senator and a threat has been made on her life, Alpha Security has been hired to protect her, but there's a leak somewhere and Elle life keeps getting put in danger. This aspect was a little predictable but it has a nice twist on it that kept it from being to predictable. Overall, it was a good read I enjoyed it and I am very much looking forward to Charlie's story, I love her.

ARC REVIEW Heated Pursuit by April Hunt

Heated Pursuit is the first book of April Hunt's debut of The Alpha Security series. As first books go this was a great introduction into the world April Hunt has created. The introduction to all the men (and one woman) of Alpha Security was just enough to let you know personality type but not to revealing and not so in depth to take away from the story or the main characters. The book starts off really well, what better way for the two to meet than Penny grabbing Rafe in the gonads. Very exciting book the pace kept steady throughout. The active setting was skillful very believable and exciting from the dirty streets of Honduras to the middle of nowhere jungle. And Penny although stubborn no so much that she risks her life doing something stupid just because they told her not to and she chose not to listen, Penny's smart about when she disobeys a command she understands it's not just her life at risk. Rafe is everything Penny didn't want in a guy, her father was military and very closed off and always gone to the point that he didn't even raise her but a friend of the family. Rafe grew up alone with no family and he knows that how his life was in the military and now with Alpha Security he's in no place for a committed relationship he doesn't know how. The chemistry between the two was almost instantaneous and once they gave in there is no going back.

Penny Kline is a social worker turned bail enforcement officer, and now she's in Honduras trying to find her niece. Her niece Rachel is only a few years younger than her and I wish it had explained the family a little more than it did. Rachel was working in a small village in Honduras when she went missing.. Penny only knows because Rachel sent a frantic email before saying she was in trouble and something bad was going to happen. Penny dropped everything and flew to Honduras. Rafe and the team of Alpha Security were in Honduras tracking down a dangerous drug lord who is on the verge of letting loose a highly addictive new drug in America. Penny's surrogate brother Trey is also a member of Alpha and they run into each other, or something, and after Penny proves herself she's allowed to help because there is no way she is leaving with out Rachel.  Penny and Rafe go undercover and soon end up as lovers. But when the shit hits the fan and they end up lost in the jungle they have to depend on each other to get out alive.

It was all very exciting I inhaled the book in half a day I could not put it down. Overall, this was a great book and I look forward to the rest of the series.
