ARC REVIEW Applied Electromagnetism by Susannah Nix

Applied ElectromagnetismChemistry Lessons #4, I love these nerdy/geeky rom-coms they are something I can relate to and because the characters are more relatable they are more life like for me and I get sucked up into the story and don't want to put it down and end up staying up way to late reading. It's an easy read and fun read, I fell in love with Olivia so was awesome. Olivia was applying for a leadership course and needed two recommendation, she thought to ask Adam he may keep himself apart from the other workers and is a bit of a mystery but he's well respected by the higher-ups. Unfortunately he says no and for what Olivia thinks is a stupid reason. Adam's refusal to write her a recommendation has Olivia going from secret crush to outright dislike to bad an emergency comes up and Olivia is stuck traveling with Adam.

The trip was doomed from the start it started with the plane, it first one had mechanical failure and was delayed their second flight took them to a different location but still within reasonable driving distance to their location. But on top of that there was a hurricane coming in and their flight got diverted to another airport entirely. Their rental car gets a flat in the middle of a storm, and even when they finally get there the hurricane keeps them from working and they are stuck in the same hotel room. The witty banter between Olivia and Adam is the best it's snarky and funny makes the whole book. It's told third person but mainly from over Olivia's shoulder you don't really get Adam's perspective until he reveals it to Olivia.

Overall, this was a wonderful and adorably fun romance with the right amount of heat. It can be read as a stand alone.

ARC REVIEW The Adorkable Girl and the Geek by Sidney Bristol

The Adorkable Girl and the Geek is the fifth instalment in Sidney Bristol's Gone Geek series. I loved this it was a quick read, very geeky and a little bit kinky. Nate and Cara have been friends since grade school and have been in love just as long but neither of them wanted to jeopardize their friendship by admitting to the other how they felt so they went years secretly pining for each other and never knowing they felt the same for each other.

Cara needs a break from her life, she hates her job, her coworkers, and her mother's attitude has gotten worse ever since Cara had to move back home, lucky she saved enough to go visit her best friend in California for the weekend. Nate's first dream of becoming a NAVY SEAL ended in a damaged knee but his fall back was to work behind the scenes in Hollywood now he works freelance post production one of his jobs is for the YouTube hit show HitPoint in which his high school friends Josh and Brian work on also. (If you read Beauty and the Geek you'll remember meeting these guys already and Tamara and Stephen make an appearance.)

The first night back Nate can tell something is wrong with Cara and with a little bit of libation the truth comes out about how miserable her life is right now and Cara kisses Nate with that everything comes out. Nate kisses her back and they finally tell each other how they feel and start making up for lost time. Things don't continue as easily, Brian has an issue with Nate and starts acting like an ass. The main issue is that Nate likes to tie up his partner during sex and Brian makes assumptions and then there's Ellie. Nate and Ellie had an agreement it was just sex to satisfy a need but several months before Cara shows up Nate ended broke of that arrangement. Only now Brian is all butt hurt because he has a thing for Ellie and didn't know about them until now and is taking it out on Nate and Cara.

Cara's own past issues factor in big, her father practically ruined her life and when she found out that Nate was omitting facts she felt betrayed and hurt and didn't think she could build a relationship with him after that. Cara has to confront her own baggage before she can move on and Nate just hopes she can move on with him.

Overall, it was a really good read, I love Nate. I love all the geekiness of this series and how each one is different. Sidney knows geek and her knowledge reflects in the characters and I love the subtle kink in this one.

ARC REVIEW Forever Mine by Erin Nicholas

Forever Mine is book two in Erin Nicholas' Opposites Attract series. I enjoyed this much more than the first book. Maya is a real life super hero, a former police officer who got injured in the line of duty and had to quit due to her injury. But still she has no issue putting herself at risk to help someone who needs it, and she wants to make sure people can save themselves, she runs a martial arts and self defense studio where she teaches kids to stand up for themselves and what they believe is right and that they can be their own superhero. Alex is a doctor with a rare blood disorder who grew up and became an expert in that field. A several months ago he discovered he had a daughter who inherited his blood disorder from him. Alex tries to relate to his daughter the only way he can think of and that is through her favorite superhero movie series. Alex discovers Maya's superhero class the plan, because it is to dangerous for his daughter to do it herself, was for Alex to join and then teaches his daughter what he learned in a controlled environment. Alex and Maya have instant chemistry and because of that Maya works with Alex just so she can spend time with him. Even though he feels guilty for not spending time with his daughter Alex looks forward to spending his time with Maya.

The conflict that both Alex and Maya face is just as much internal as it is between them. Alex growing up was constantly overprotected by his mother, he hated that but now with a daughter of his own he is trying to do things differently, but he is still very sensitive about the subject of his own disorder. For a doctor who does conferences and speeches he is horrible when it comes to communication. Maya doesn't know when to give up she is constantly pushing herself to prove that she can still do things even with her physical limitations. Maya falls head over heals for Alex but he's not very communicative, and it makes it seem to Maya that what she is feeling is one sided. Alex needs to face his inner demons before he can fully open up to not only Maya but his daughter as well.

Overall, a very emotional and heartfelt book, you can tell the author feels deeply about the topic. The characters are very well written, I pretty much wanted to slap Alex upside the head there for a bit that's a good thing in this case.

ARC REVIEW The Gamer and the Geek by Sidney Bristol

It's no secret that I love this author. She is diverse and not just because she writes multiracial romance but she is diverse in her writing style from romantic suspense to rom com geeky romance to BDSM erotica but she also varied in those. It's not just the stereotypical geek but all types of geeks. Like this book you can assume by the title (just the title not the blurb) that gamer means video gamer, but you would be wrong in this case Sidney Bristol delves into what she knows and is passionate about herself board games. I know nothing about board games, I kind of suck at them, so this was informative to read about all the boardgame intricacies and the two main styles of them and all the details Sidney went into about the boardgame world; just enough to be interesting but not too much detail that it overwhelms the book. Rashae and Declan are combustible from the sexual tension to their dialogue they are really close to being my favorite couple of the Gone Geek series.

Rashae is finally getting the chance to branch out into the board game world and show off her art in that field. The only roadblock is that the creators know nothing about about the industry and are nitpicking everything the only one who seems to be on her side is the sexy Irish campaign manager Declan. Rashae and Declan are hesitant to start a relationship because they are working with each other but after spending time together and really getting to know each other they both realize they are falling for each other. Rashae is about ready to put her heart on the line when everything they have been working for with the to board game developers blows up and it is going to take quite a bit for Declan to prove to Rashae that he had nothing to do with it.

Overall, this was another great book from Sidney Bristol.

ARC REVIEW Beauty and the Geek by Sidney Bristol

OMG! So I am a complete sucker for geeky books and I have complete faith in Sidney Bristol in everything she writes, she hasn't let me down yet with her fabulous writing and lustable characters. I also love retellings of the Beauty and the Beast fairytale. Beauty and the Geek was a quick read for me mostly because I couldn't put it down. Tamara Roh is a woman after my own heart I would love to have her as a friend, not just to hang out and play videogames with (when I'm not reading I'm on the PS4) but hell she cool! That group of friends they are amazing and I can't wait for each of their stories. Steven Kipper is the beast of the story he's grew up being told he was hideous and a monster, people freak when they see him, he has almost gotten use to it. But something deep inside has him longing for an intimate connection with someone. That put him in a chatroom connecting with Tamara.

Right off the bat, Sidney starts kinky, wow. (wish my hubby was a robotics genius) Steven and Tamara start a virtual relationship doing everything but reveal who they are and anything about what they do. But being internet savvy Tamara finds out who he is and isn't scared off by his appearance. Steven has dubbed the woman he has fallen in love with as Pam and as much as he respects her privacy he really wants to start a real-life relationship, he thinks he knows who she is. But one Facebook message to the wrong woman spurs Tamara into an in-person meeting with Steven. The first met went as expected they were both a little hesitant and nervous but the sexual chemistry between the two soon overpowers any nervousness and they quickly change their online-only to a real-life relationship.

They each have their own problems, Tamara was fired from her last job because she wouldn't sleep with her co-star and in the past she shook up the gaming community by going to to cops after being raped at a con. Steven has had bad experiences with girlfriends in the past he's unsure if Tamara is going to be like them or if she is sincere about her actions.

Overall this book was great, I really enjoyed it. I love all the characters and it made me cry and laugh it really was a great story.
