ARC REVIEW Wicked Burn by Rebecca Zanetti

The Realm Enforcers is back and this time with Simone and Nick. FINALLY!!! If you haven't read the previous books in the series... why not they are action packed, romance driven and hot guys on motorcycles! Okay seriously this spin off of the Dark Protectors series is just as good as the original. Rebecca Zanetti has set the bar high and she just keeps raising it higher with each book. If you haven't you might want to read at least Wicked Edge, it leaves off where this one starts and it gives you a little added detail as to what is happening. In other words you might be a bit lost at the very beginning but it does fill in the blanks if you haven't read Wicked Edge. (So far Wicked Edge is my favorite so yeah read it.)

Simone is the head of the Coven of Nine and she has now been framed. Her enemies have been crafty enough to make it look like she was behind the plankite mines. Simone's family and friends have called one person they know can keep her safe. Nick Veis due to circumstances out of his control (i.e. fate) had to end his relationship with Simone a hundred years ago. But now that everything that said had to be done is done Nick is ready to claim Simone's heart again but first he has to save her from her own people. Simone never forgave Nick for what he did, and she doesn't want his help she is ready to face her charges; she can not deny that there is some physical attraction a lot of sexual attraction. Simone however is once burned twice shy. When several of the Coven of Nine council members fall victim to plankite including Simone's mother, the shite really hits the fan. Simone's Mom calls in reinforcements, the side of the family Simone never knew she had. Nick now that he has Simone and knows there is still something between them isn't going to let her go so easily and will follow her to the ends of the earth to protect her, even risking his own life.

Overall, this is one big Surprise! for Simone and Nick revealing secrets and pasts never before known. One of the many good things about this book you finally see more of Bear, unfortunately, for me the more Bear talked the more he sounded like a teenager rather then a century plus old bear shifter who has previously been strong, silent, and very intimidating. But everything else about this book I loved. It did conclude so not technically a cliffhanger but it did kind of end abruptly and I was taken off guard by it especially since it left soooooooo many unanswered questions.
