BLOG TOUR Velicious pt 2 by Shelique Lize

Velicious Blog Tour Banner VELICIOUS PART TWO
By: Shelique Lize
Publication Date: November 30th, 2015
Genres: Paranormal Romance
* Velicious Part Two cannot be read as a stand alone.*

Justice Labelle has lost too much in this war of monster and men, and it needs to stop now. After her run in with Erin, which left her lying in a hospital bed, black and bloody blue, Justice is no longer going to sit by and simply accept the twisted hand, that has been dealt.
Especially since she now has superhuman powers, all thanks to her being a Doll. Her one and only passion– To get through College and practice law at a top tier firm, is fading from her grasp and it's all because of Calvin, Dante, Vampyres and the Government. In fact the government has more secrets than kids have candy… And they’re all just as deadly as the enemies they hunt. But you know what? Justice has come up with her own master plan and heaven help the Vampyre, monster or human that gets in her way!

Velicious part one and two should be read back to back, like I did. I recommend that you do too, because can you say cliffhanger! It was and enjoyable read, I love the vampire/paranormal world that Shelique Lize created. The mystery slowly unravels itself  aggravatingly slow at times but there is so much going on that the story moves at a fast pace.
In Velicious part one we meet almost all the pertinent characters, and how they all fit into the paranormal life, all except for Justice. What she thinks she knows isn't real and she's not who she thinks she is. Meanwhile Government agencies and rogue agencies are up to their heads in no good and it is seriously fucking up Justice's life. Not to mention the crazy psychic her sister took her to and for told doom and gloom and a hot guy guy with eyes that mesmerize. Just when you think it's all going to come together, it ends.
Part two picks almost immediately and in this one Justice and Dante get closer... a lot closer, hint hint nudge nudge, wink wink. There is even more action and drama and hot sex. Just about all the loose ends get tied up and it ends... kinda. I want more!
The stories together were deliciously aggravating, slowly revealing the mystery slowly bit by bit and then distracting you with other stuff. I would put this in the same category with Ilona Andrews, Kate Daniels. It's a gritty and raw story with a continuous underlying story that tethers in you and pulls you along for the ride.

  Excerpt
Dante hopped out, popping open his trunk. Unbuckling myself, I stepped out of the car as well. I asked, "What are we doing here?"
Where was here, exactly? There was an open field of whiteness below, pure snow and ice. The night was not that cold. The stars were out, and light fluffs of snow fell slowly. All in all, it was a beautiful night in winter.
Grinning handsomely, Dante pulled two plastic toboggan sleds out of his trunk.
Shaking my head in disbelief, I said, “You're kidding?”
“I don't kid.”
“No, this not happening.”
“You need some fun in your life.” He frowned tossing the tobogganing sleds on the roof of his car. “Let loose.”
I shrugged. “I let loose.”
“I remembered you telling me that life was your nightmare.”
“So what?”
“So have some fun with the nightmares of your life. Trust me, this life will use and abuse you, and you simply have to put your foot down and say, ‘Fuck it. No more.’ Everyone deserves a little fun. Don't be life's bitch.”
I hated to admit it, but ugh, he was right. Again. When was the last time I enjoyed myself? Correction, when was the last time I had tried to enjoy myself and something bad ended up happening?
Sighing, I walked over to his car, and grabbed one of the toboggan sleds.
“And if I don't enjoy this?”
“If you don't like it, you don't like it. However, you do this for me, I'll tell you anything you want to know about my kind.”
“Deal." I smiled and sauntered toward the very top of the white hill and looked below. It was a very steep drop. It was seriously high for a toboggan hill. The last time I remembered I did anything like this, I was in elementary school. Taking a long, cool breath, I placed the sled on a path of melted snow and sat down, looking back at Dante as he meandered toward the hill, holding his sled behind his back. I hated that Dante was bathed in an unearthly perfection. Reaching out to where I was, Dante told me to yell out everything bad in my life, to take back control while sliding down. I didn't question his method. I had nothing to lose. I simply nodded, pushing myself off, and yelled at the top of my lungs. It felt good. By the time I reached the bottom, there was a lightness inside me again. A serious weight had disappeared, vanished for the moment, and I loved it. I moved out of the way as Dante came flying down the hill. Dante's hair was a mess in his face, and he picked himself up with a goofy grin. “How do you feel?”
“A little better,” I mumbled, holding my thumb and pointing finger inches apart. Then, grabbing my sled, I took off up the hill with Dante following close behind. Round two of sledding down, I yelled out again at the top of my lungs. Round three, Dante and I raced down. Round four, we were a little silly, going backwards. Round five, six, and seven were just as fun, and round eight changed everything. Crashing into the snow and tumbling over, I laid there, laughing, for many reasons. I don't know if I was losing my mind, or if this was a sane thing to do. Standing above me Dante looked down. “Are you okay?”
“Never been better,” I said, gazing into the blanket of stars, my breath materializing. Dante lowered his hand, and I took it with my right, but with my left I scooped up a handful of snow. Standing up, I shoved it in his face, and boy did I run, just as I got a glimpse of Dante's lips twitching. “This is war!” I heard Dante yell from behind me.
Turning to face him, I replied, “Bring it on!” With a smile and feeling giddy, I scooped up another handful of snow, and Dante did the same.Image6

summary001

Justice Labelle always had her life perfectly planned.

Her goals were to graduate from University and get into law school.

Then one day, Justice tried to kill herself.

Well, not her technically. It may have been her body, but those actions weren’t intentional and the suicidal thoughts were not hers. Or, so she keeps telling her therapist and family. Justice is afraid she’s losing her mind and just wants to forget everything. But when her best friend is murdered, another one is being mind-screwed by a Vampyre, and her ex is back in town, looking as scrumptious as ever and very suspicious, maybe she isn’t all that crazy!

It took her five years to write Velicious Part One but once her first daughter was born, she decided to revisit the world that she had created. Falling in love with her characters all over again, she wanted to finish their story. Velicious Part Two was written in half the time. Shelique loves anything to do with the paranormal world. She’s a proud Canadian but dislikes winter. She prefers watching the snow falling beautifully from inside a warm home. Currently she likes to listen to The Weeknd and Lana Del Rey, and she’s pretty open to every other genre of music.

BLOG TOUR MERMEN Review and QnA with Mimi Jean Pamfiloff GIVEAWAY

OUT NOW!!!!

Mimi Jean Pamfiloff newest trilogy!!

 They’ve got something he wants.

INFAMOUS BACHELOR and SELF-MADE BILLIONAIRE ROEN DORAN IS A BASTARD. Yes, he knows it. And no, he doesn’t care. He’s got money and power, and he depends on no one. But when his estranged father dies, willing him a secret island, Roen will come face to face with an even bigger secret: its occupants. And these savage, sea-obsessed warriors are quick to make their position clear: Leave now or die.

There’s only one problem. Nobody tells Roen what to do. Ever. Oh, and one other thing. He’s just met the island’s other new “guest” and something about her brings out his possessive side.

SOLE SHIPWRECK SURVIVOR LIV STRATTON had been adrift at sea for ten grueling days when salvation miraculously appeared: an uncharted island. Only, the deceivingly beautiful men who live there aren’t interested in saving her. No, not at all. Because they somehow believe she is their property, a gift from the ocean to do with as they please. This is not good.

Her only hope? Billionaire Roen Doran, of all people. A man who’s said to care for nothing and no one. But if he’s so heartless, then why is he about to risk everything to help her?

Q&A with Mimi Jean

-How did you come up with the idea of Mermen?

I love stories where the unlovable or revolting are turned into something we all can’t help but fall in love with. Example: Who didn’t love Warm Bodies? The dude is a zombie and eats brains, but most of us were probably loving him from the first moment.

And when I wrote the ACCIDENTAL SERIES, I was kind of going after the same thing. Mayan gods are NOT sexy. They just aren’t. But creating a world where that just wasn’t true was so much fun. And my gods aren’t just sexy, they make you laugh.

Anyway, when I decided to tackle another similar “taboo,” I wanted something that would really, really push me. So I chose a species I find hard to get turned on by.

Half-fish men can be pretty, but they’re not sexy! (For me, anyway.) But that was part of the fun! Reinventing the entire folklore surrounding mermen and mermaids and turning it into something that would turn the mermen-haters into mermen-lovers.

-What did Cimil think about all these Merman?
She’d want to make them all her personal pets and spank them.

-Will there be any crossover between the Accidentally Yours characters in the Mermen series? Will there be any invisible unicorns?
LOL. I hadn’t thought about that, but now that you mention it, I could see some of the Mermen jumping over to Immortal Matchmakers (my ACCIDENTALLY YOURS spinoff), looking to Cimil and her unicorn for a little help in the love department.

CAUTION: These are not your average fairy tale, fantasy, Barbie, kids cartoon mermen! They are mean, they are vicious, and they are absolute bastards. Also it ends in a cliffhanger, typical Mimi Jean Pamfiloff fashion. Unlike some of her other book this book is strictly in the third person and I love that; and like her other books it’s weird and I love weird. I loved the premise of the book a protected island in the middle of the ocean it’s only inhabitants gorgeous men unfortunately all of them are massive a-holes.  So you are thinking to yourselves… Mermen? Yes. Do they have tales? No the evolved past the point of needing them. They are also stronger, faster, can breathe underwater, and of course swim like they are part fish, which they are not they are genetic cousins to us land lovers. Think along the lines of Mermen are to Human as Tigers are to Kittens. Liv is an awesome character she is strong and not willing to give up even when it comes to Roen. Now Roen, he is a bastard but despite it all your heart goes out to him because the situation he finds himself forced into. The chemistry between the two is outstanding and at one point makes you want to strangle someone; more specifically Roen.

The book starts off with Liv in a life raft; she was on a fishing boat doing interviews for her dissertation when a freak storm comes and sinks the boat and she is the only survivor. She has been floating around for over a week she thinks she is hallucinating when she sees an island, she really thinks she’s hallucinating when she sees a very large very naked man swim out of the water on to the beach and she knows she is not hallucinating when a shark starts circling her raft. At first she thinks the man is a savior but it soon becomes obvious that is not the case.
Roen is a self made billionaire, he hates the water and the only way to conquer anything is to master it hence the shipping company. He was raised by a mother running from his psychopathic father an eco-terrorist and all around A-Hole and Roen wants nothing to do with him but fate intervenes and lands his father’s will in his lap. The will includes the coordinates to nowhere, well nothing that’s on the map. When Roen gets there his helicopter crashes and his phone won’t work. He saves Liv from a half naked man trying to drown her.

Whatever you do... don’t drink the water! Roen immediately feels a pull to Liv and a possessive need to claim her; even when he knows he normally wouldn’t do these things he doing them for Liv. That’s not the only thing he is becoming one more and more like these Mermen and maybe the only way to save Liv from them is to come one of them.

I love Mimi Jean Pamfiloff and even though this ends in a cliffhanger book two, MerMadMen, is already available!

About the Author:

Before taking up a permanent residence in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mimi spent time living near NYC (became a shopaholic), in Mexico City (developed a taste for very spicy food), and Arizona (now hates jumping chollas, but pines for sherbet sunsets). Her love of pre-Hispanic culture, big cities, and romance inspires her to write when she’s not busy with kids, hubby, work, and life…or getting sucked into a juicy novel.

She hopes that someday, leather pants for men will make a big comeback and that her writing might make you laugh when you need it most.

To say I'm picky about the New Adult genre is an understatement and half the time when I pick one to read I hate them but the other half are shining stars. Say Something is one of those shining stars.
I didn't know what to think starting this book mainly because I knew it was going to end in a cliffhanger and I generally don't like cliffhangers with a few exception; this is going to be one of those exception.

The characters are complex, delightfully complex and well written (I'm going to be a smart ass here and say I would hope so because it is the whole of the story) An instant attraction changes everything for two people. Ari has a secret she has never told anyone the kind of secret that gives her nightmares   so bad she wakes up screaming. Ben avoid commitment like the plague and being on the college football team and the president of his fraternity it's not hard to find a new bed mate every night. But the moment they saw each other they knew it was something special.

It is a highly excitable book a few times I had to stop and take a deep breath the things that boy does to her, wooo. Now, the conflict again is not one of my favorites, vindictive ex ( who's not technically an ex but it's just easier to refer to her as such) out to sabotage, but was done well it's not a constant thing it's sporadic throughout the book and they easily overcome her childish meddling. The introduction of Ari own ex-boyfriend is short but hints to more to come in the next books. Ari finally confides in Ben her dark secret and Ben struggles with his grandmother's deteriorating health. All leading to a big fat cliffhanger...

The only problem I had with the book, besides the cliffhanger, was the flip flopping of POVs. First person POV between Ari and Ben and even occasionally the evil ex. It wasn't confusing it was all clearly marked but it happened so often in some chapters it made me think why not just write it in third person.
