ARC REVIEW Wicked Cowboy Wolf by Kait Ballenger

Wicked Cowboy Wolf (Seven Range Shifters, #3) Seven Range Shifters #3, This one is my favorite of the three so far. I knew I would love Rogue and Maeve. I loved that they had history, even if Mae doesn't know it at first. The romance between them definitely has some Beauty and the Beast like qualities. I think this can be read as a standalone but I would at least recommend reading book #2 even though certain events are mentioned and explained book two is where it happens so you get the full story, if I remember correctly.

Maeve is once again the target of the vampires, her blood was used to create a serum so that the vampires could drink from the shifter and now the vampires want her dead so an antidote can't be made. Rogue's plan is to hide her away safe from everyone while they track down the scientist who created the serum in the first place and have him make the antidote. Mae reluctantly agree for the safety of her pack. She doesn't trust Rogue especially since she has an undeniable attraction to him. Rogue has always loved Mae, even before he became Rogue, not that Mae recognizes him anymore, and he plans to keep it that way until necessary. But the longer she's on his ranch the more she worms her way into his heart and the hearts of his people.

Overall, I think this one was paced better than the previous books. I loved all the characters, I felt a connection for both Rogue and Maeve, loved the secondary characters especially the kids. I'm really getting into the series I can't wait to find out what happens next.

ARC REVIEW Hero's Haven by Rebecca Zanetti

Hero's Haven (Dark Protectors #11)Dark Protectors #11, The story of the seven continue on, it is best if you start at the beginning or at least Vampire's Faith (#8) which is the start of this story arc. When we last saw Quade his world was on the brink of collapse, Haven a special woman who has the ability to travel to other worlds in her dreams has seen Quade, talked to him. Haven doesn't always have control of where she goes but she was lucky enough to get to Quade before his world collapsed and somehow brought him back with her. Quade is thrust in to modern times and unlike his brother who had the help of Siri to adjust Quade is figuring this out on his own with Haven's help, his favorite thing is toothpaste.

On the run from human police and the Kurjian are the least of their problems when Haven's past finds her and tries it's best to take her way from Quade with the help a creepy shifter. But that's just the beginning. The Kurjian and the Cyst are still hot on the Seven's tail and the big bad is closer than ever to breaking free and it's up to Haven to stop it from happening.

The romance between Quade and Haven starts really nice, they have great chemistry but once it gets to the whole have to mate to protect her I lose interest, normally I love oblivious guys but Quade is just being too stubborn for his own good and it gets tiresome. The ending was brilliant though, I really liked how this one ended.

Overall, out of this new story arc this is definitely one of my favorites. It was action-packed and exciting from cover to cover. And Finally Grace and Adare's book is going to be next, well after the novella.

CHRISTMAS ARC REVIEW Home for the Holidays by Terry Spear

Home for the Holidays (Silver Town Wolf)Silver Town Wolf #9, I love this series and I love the MacTire sisters this one was good, not my favorite but not horrible either. It had plenty of intrigue, a little bit of angst, just enough Holiday spirit and lots of romance. Meghan can see and communicate with ghosts the resident ghost at the inn has become extra emotional this holiday season. She misses her beau and asks Meghan if she can look into finding him, as both were shifter there is a good chance he might still be alive. Meghan and the sheriff, Peter, have been dating for about a year and with a mating inevitably in their future they both decide to come clean about secrets they have been keeping. Unfortunately Meghan's past comes out before she gets the chance to tell Peter when her ex-boyfriend shows up out of the blue with news. Peter takes it in stride because his secret is just as big. When Meghan's secret somehow connects to the inn's ghost, the town's biggest tragedy and Peter's past everything seems almost to much to handle especially since Peter puts Meghan and her sisters under 24/7 protection.

Overall it was a good read. There was a bit more sex in it than I typically like these days, but that's me. The holiday aspect of the book was nice with the full victorian costume caroling, the gingerbread house competition, and the snow sculpture competition and the pack Christmas party and gift exchange. I like Terry Spear's writing the intrigue is nicely done with how everything ties together and a very good ending.

ARC REVIEW Wolf Instinct by Paige Tyler

Wolf Instinct (SWAT Book 9) SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #9, wow, book nine already. Out earlier this summer if you haven't the chance yet I highly recommend this series. Throughout the book the SWAT has discovered they not alone, between the Omegas and the Betas but now they discover so much more, the shifters aren't the only paranormal out there. There is a continuing story arc but each of the book is a stand alone you can read it just by itself but really these books are quick and easy to read and so good it worth reading all of them.

The sexy former SAS Brit, Zane, and some of the others go to L.A. to track down the one who betrayed the pack. Zane is slowly recovering from the poisoned bullet that nearly cost him his arm, he's not sure he'll ever get back to full strength but that's not going to stop him from catching the SOB who was behind the attack in the last book. FBI Special Agent Alyssa Carson is part of a unit that technically doesn't exist. She's in L.A. following a lead on a missing persons and the connection to an exsanguinated body. Alyssa has seen some weird stuff but she is in no way prepared for meeting Zane, the hunters and all the other weird stuff L.A. has in store for them.

Overall, it's an exciting read. Excellent action, sweet and hot romance, wonderfully developed characters with the right amount of angst and witty banter.

ARC REVIEW Alpha's Promise by Rebecca Zanetti

Alpha's Promise (Dark Protectors #10)Dark Protectors #10, I enjoyed this one for the most part. I'm excited for the direction this is going, The Seven working with the Demon Nation and The Realm to stop the big bad from being released and destroying everything they hold dear. I like the side story with little Hope Kylwood and her friends. What I didn't like was the romance, not romance sex, I like Ivar and I like Promise I just didn't like them together or I should say when they got it on. I guess I'm just over the whole dominance thing, ya know been there done that now it just triggers me. But the actual story was great.

Dr. Promise Williams is just the scientist they have been looking for and she's an enhanced. She's someone who can figure out how the transporting works and figure out a way to bring home safely their missing brother. Ivar Kjeidsen demon vampire hybrid survived jumping through countless hell worlds before finally finding his way home and it just made him all the more determined to bring back his brother, Quade, before his world collapses, literally not figuratively, in fact the prison world they trapped their big bad on is colliding with Quade's world. It's crunch time and the Kurjans aren't helping matter because it's their religious figure they are trying to release so they will stop at nothing to prevent the Seven from completing their tasks.

I liked Promise, she's logical and everything is math and very analytical. Half the time I figured she was a high functioning autistic with how she was around other people but with the parents she had it's no wonder she's that way. She was rational and listened when it came to her own protection she is Sooo not the TSTL heroine, that is probably what I liked the most. I'm however getting bored with Grace and Adare's bickering I wish their book was next but no it's not, frustrated sigh. Overall, it was a good read. Not really meant to be a stand alone I would suggest at least starting at Vampire's Faith for this story arc.

ARC REVIEW Cowboy in Wolf's Clothing by Kait Ballenger

Cowboy in Wolf's Clothing (Seven Range Shifters #2)Seven Range Shifters #2, I liked this book about as much as I liked the first book, which really wasn't all that much. Once again I couldn't connect to the main character, Colt, even with his in depth backstory I ended up just pushing myself to the second half of the book. Belle was fine she was a little wimpy for my tastes, she's a born rogue and steers clear of packs, because packs hate rogues, and she got mixed up with the Wild Eight Pack due to her own insecurities and yet life by herself on her own and she can't defend herself, ehhhh, but she does have a backbone. I did believe the chemistry between them the strong physical attraction mixed with all their pheromones and them not wanting to act on it because of current circumstances but taking the risk anyways, well at least for one night because Colt's past and the secret he has kept from everyone in the pack.

I liked the second half of the book better, the first half aside from one or two fight scenes was really slow but the action and the suspense picked up a bit and the story has a better pace and kind of flows easier. The secondary characters I liked them, I think they were written better in this book than the first. This can be read as a stand alone, all the stuff you need to know is given. Overall, the story was good, even if it took a bit to get there. I always like it when the vampires are the bad guys. If the next book is going to be about who I think it going to be about, which Ballenger kinda teased, I'm looking forward to that one.

RELEASE DAY BLITZ The Librarian's Vampire Assistant Book 3 by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

The Librarian's Vampire Assistant, book #3

Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

  Synopsis:
From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes an uncomfortably hilarious Mystery with a heaping help of sexual frustration, THE LIBRARIAN’S VAMPIRE ASSISTANT, Book Three. (Yep! It’s a STAND-ALONE. But why not read them all because…fun!)

FALLING IN LOVE WITH A LIBRARIAN JUST CAN’T GET MORE AWKWARD…
Michael Vanderhorst is not your usual vampire. For starters, he works in a library, is in love with Miriam, his hot nerdy human boss who has no clue what he is, and he looks like a college student.

In reality, Michael is an ancient deadly vampire, an ex-assassin, and is currently the de facto king of his kind ever since their ruling party disappeared. To where? He doesn’t know, but if he wants his life back, he’ll have to find out. (Mystery!) Especially because a civil war is brewing, and being king makes his librarian a mark for his enemies. She is, after all, his biggest weakness.

With a global uprising about to explode, Michael must give her the protection of his army. Only one problem: She must become his queen first. But every attempt he makes to tell her the truth is met with extreme hostility. “Vampires aren’t real. That’s crazy talk, Michael!”

Clearly, the topic frightens her. With time running out and her life on the line, Michael is left with one option: Marry her. Without her knowing.

Can he pull it off? And what will happen when the fight comes to their door?

Book three jumps right in where book two left off. For newcomers they might be a little lost when they first start the book but Michael's narration plays well and he recaps in his own way while trying to figure out the mystery plot. It's not a true cliffhanger at the end either, the big mystery is solved but she leaves it wide open for another book (one she must write as quickly as possible!!!!)

Mimi continues to write comical and zanie hijinks for Michael and the moment we have all been waiting for has finally happened. Mr. Nice is his usual 80's goth band vampire self only this time he has developed a fascination with Miriam. Micheal not knowing who to trust has started to make unpredictable decision but it doesn't seem to matter where ever he goes there are traders in the shadows.

Overall, Mimi once again takes us on quite a ride as the story continues and doesn't seem to lose it's momentum, from start to finish it's non-stop vampire hijinks, double dealings, and incomprehensible lisping. Twists and turns, red herrings and misdirection make this vampire mystery one I didn't even bother trying to guess because I knew I would be wrong. A fantastically funny and mysterious read, I loved it.

ARC REVIEW SEAL Wolf Surrender by Terry Spear

SEAL Wolf SurrenderSEAL Wolf #6, The nice thing about this series and the whole Heart of the Wolf Universe that Terry Spear's writes is that each book is a stand alone. One thing I love is that the couple always makes sure they want to mate, like they can't live without each other before they have sex because sex equates a mating in the shifter world. The chemistry, the pheromones are telling them this wolf is a good match for you but in the case of Brock and Natalie the distance of where they live and the possibility that relocating isn't possible for either of them keeps them from fully committing to each other. I loved the plot of this one, it was exciting and kept you on your toes.

Natalie was excited to to to her best friend/ sister of her heart's wedding, Angie having fell in love with a pack member of the Greystoke pack meant Natalie would have to go to Colorado for the wedding and not having any extra time she had to fly. A belligerent drunk, who was also a wolf, caused the flight to be delayed. Unfortunately at baggage claim Natalie accidentally grabbed his bag by mistake. In doing so Natalie inadvertently uncovered a ring of wolf counterfeiters.

There was instant chemistry between Brock and Natalie and the threat that the counterfeiters might be after him has his protective wolf side come out. Not wanting her alone on this he volunteers his services as a PI to track down the bad guys and protect Natalie even if that means driving down to Amarillo, TX to do so. Along the way they discover how well they work together both in her family business of the garden center and his PI work. Despite both of them saying they weren't looking for a mate Natalie and Brock make a great team in more ways than one.

Overall, it was an entertaining read, I always enjoy reading Terry Spear's Heart of the Wolf series and the spin-offs series.

ARC REVIEW The Trouble with Vampires by Lynsay Sands

The Trouble With Vampires (Argeneau #29)Argeneau #29,  Yay Santo!! Book 29 in the Argeneau series brings us to a suburban Albany, New York neighborhood. The Enforcers got a lead that may end up being the mad scientist they have been trying to track down since he escaped from his private island off the coast of Venezuela where he had been experimenting on immortals and humans in a Dr. Moreau kind of way. After being held captive by the mad scientist Santo is ready for a swift justice. Petronella Stone is babysitting her nephew but soon after she gets there strange things start to happen someone tries to break in to the house luckily the neighbors intervene before anything can happen. The visiting neighbors, Marguerite, Julius, Zanipolo, Jason, and Santo are there to track down the mad scientist who maybe hiding out in his cousins house right next door and the attempted break in at Pet’s house is just too coincidental. They find out early on Pet knows about immortals due to a traumatic past experience which makes things easier for the Enforcers to protect her and her nephew, Parker. Once Santo realizes that Pet is his life mate and she already knows about immortals he thinks the rest should be easy, but it’s never easy!

Overall, this was another very entertaining read. Santo and Pet are hot, it gets very steamy and Santo is very deserving of a life mate. Parker is adorable. I foresee something happening with the Brass Circle in the future (finger’s crossed). This one wasn’t as predictable as some of the past books I didn’t guess what exactly happened and it was good, it had a very nice ending. I think this could be read as a standalone but if you need to read the previous one to catch up on the whole mad scientist plot you don’t have to go back to the very beginning just maybe back maybe six or seven to Runaway Vampire or Immortal Nights. I am also anticipating Zanipolo’s book to be next, I’m hoping. I always enjoy Lynsay Sands writing, her characters are always quirky and Pet and Santo’s have very dark emotional past they have to deal with which lead to them connecting on an emotional level as well as physical.

Oh my flippin' Gods!! This book! Mimi has done it again taken us on a wild ride, between Colel and her crazy ninja assassin bees and Minky. Woooo this book is crazy good, emphasis on the crazy.
Colel has been the Mistress of the Bees since her creation 70-ish thousand years ago and after all that time she's lonely but looking for love when you wear a beehive for a hat isn't easy especially when your bees are very protective. Rys is the one human who has ever sparked a lustful emotion out of Colel but everytime she gets near him her bees freak out and considering the fact he's deathly allergic to bees has her all twisted inside. Meanwhile Zac is dealing with his own romance problems, Minky has gone off her rocker and Cimil well.... it's better if you just read it.

Overall these crazy gods and goddess make for some good laugh out loud fun reading. Mimi has a way with words especially when she's channeling Cimil. Told in third person mainly from over the shoulder of Colel and sometimes Rys and Zac. I love the direction Mimi is taking this, she keeps you guessing. This is a standalone Colel and Rys story begins and ends only Zac and Tula's ongoing tragedy is well.. ongoing, but there is a nice little tease as to what's going on next.

Wherever Dax Knight sets foot, hell is bound to freeze over.

As a mercenary for the Order of the Senary, Dax departs for New England to assist his comrades in battling the vampire forces threatening to consume the Northeast. The last thing he expects to find is a gorgeous vampiress who surrenders to him entirely. Ensnared by her allure, their intense attraction ignites, and he discovers she isn’t what she seems.

Cindel Konstantinov has been on the run since she escaped her sire’s possession, trading one life of abuse and imprisonment for another. As her hope for freedom wanes, she encounters one of the infamous Knights, and his dangerous appeal is undeniable. After a life-altering moment of mercy, they careen down a path of secrets, lies, and a forbidden passion neither of them can resist. But when her past comes back to haunt them, they’ll have to face the consequences of their actions—and their desires.

Dax and Cindel will need each other more than ever as their world spirals into chaos. But are they strong enough to survive the oncoming storm?

Dax gets his big ol' frozen heart thawed out by a sexy little runaway. Oh my goodness this book, the narrative descriptive and the action so easy to visualize in my head so wonderfully written. Characters are well thought out and have just enough angst to make them interesting but not whinny, not to mention these guys have a pretty twisted sense of humor. The bad guys are evil, as they should be, and the good guys sometimes have to do bad things so people live. I absolutely loved this book.

Cindel, aka Cindy, ran away from her evil sire/lover/abuser/vampire ruler of New York and with the help of another particularly evil vampire she broke her ties to him making it impossible for him to find her. For the last three years she's barely survived doing what she has to do for blood, until one night she meets Dax. Having just slaughtered an entire yacht of vampires Dax is more injured than he would have liked and without Cindy's help he would have died on that yacht. Dax doesn't trust her at first but the fragile Cindy proves she can be trusted and that she is somehow like JJ, a vampire who can feel. Seeing how fragile she is Dax starts to teach Cindy how to fight and as Cindy learns her strength and capabilities the attraction between the two grows. When Cindy's life is on the line Dax will risk his own to make sure she's safe.

Overall, this is another fantastic story with great characters and a hot romance; I can not believe I have to wait even longer for Rome's book! Cindy had incredible growth in this book you can see her change from the fragile woman to badass (girl crush!).
