ARC REVIEW Hero's Haven by Rebecca Zanetti

Hero's Haven (Dark Protectors #11)Dark Protectors #11, The story of the seven continue on, it is best if you start at the beginning or at least Vampire's Faith (#8) which is the start of this story arc. When we last saw Quade his world was on the brink of collapse, Haven a special woman who has the ability to travel to other worlds in her dreams has seen Quade, talked to him. Haven doesn't always have control of where she goes but she was lucky enough to get to Quade before his world collapsed and somehow brought him back with her. Quade is thrust in to modern times and unlike his brother who had the help of Siri to adjust Quade is figuring this out on his own with Haven's help, his favorite thing is toothpaste.

On the run from human police and the Kurjian are the least of their problems when Haven's past finds her and tries it's best to take her way from Quade with the help a creepy shifter. But that's just the beginning. The Kurjian and the Cyst are still hot on the Seven's tail and the big bad is closer than ever to breaking free and it's up to Haven to stop it from happening.

The romance between Quade and Haven starts really nice, they have great chemistry but once it gets to the whole have to mate to protect her I lose interest, normally I love oblivious guys but Quade is just being too stubborn for his own good and it gets tiresome. The ending was brilliant though, I really liked how this one ended.

Overall, out of this new story arc this is definitely one of my favorites. It was action-packed and exciting from cover to cover. And Finally Grace and Adare's book is going to be next, well after the novella.

ARC REVIEW Alpha's Promise by Rebecca Zanetti

Alpha's Promise (Dark Protectors #10)Dark Protectors #10, I enjoyed this one for the most part. I'm excited for the direction this is going, The Seven working with the Demon Nation and The Realm to stop the big bad from being released and destroying everything they hold dear. I like the side story with little Hope Kylwood and her friends. What I didn't like was the romance, not romance sex, I like Ivar and I like Promise I just didn't like them together or I should say when they got it on. I guess I'm just over the whole dominance thing, ya know been there done that now it just triggers me. But the actual story was great.

Dr. Promise Williams is just the scientist they have been looking for and she's an enhanced. She's someone who can figure out how the transporting works and figure out a way to bring home safely their missing brother. Ivar Kjeidsen demon vampire hybrid survived jumping through countless hell worlds before finally finding his way home and it just made him all the more determined to bring back his brother, Quade, before his world collapses, literally not figuratively, in fact the prison world they trapped their big bad on is colliding with Quade's world. It's crunch time and the Kurjans aren't helping matter because it's their religious figure they are trying to release so they will stop at nothing to prevent the Seven from completing their tasks.

I liked Promise, she's logical and everything is math and very analytical. Half the time I figured she was a high functioning autistic with how she was around other people but with the parents she had it's no wonder she's that way. She was rational and listened when it came to her own protection she is Sooo not the TSTL heroine, that is probably what I liked the most. I'm however getting bored with Grace and Adare's bickering I wish their book was next but no it's not, frustrated sigh. Overall, it was a good read. Not really meant to be a stand alone I would suggest at least starting at Vampire's Faith for this story arc.

INKSLINGER BLOG TOUR Vengeance by Rebecca Zanetti

“The last thing she ever expected to find in her anger management group was love for a vampire.”

From New York Times Bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti, comes VENGEANCE, a new novella in her Dark Protectors and Rebels Series, brought to you by 1,001 Dark Nights! Be sure to grab your copy today!

About VENGEANCE:

From New York Times bestselling author, Rebecca Zanetti, comes a new Dark Protectors/Rebels Novella…

Vengeance and revenge are the only forces driving vampire soldier Noah Siosal since losing his brother to an enemy he’s been unable to find. He’s searched every corner of the globe, going through adversaries and piling up bodies until finally getting a lead. The last place he wants to be is in a ridiculous anger management group with people expressing feelings instead of taking action. Until one fragile human, a green-eyed sweetheart being stalked by danger, catches his eye. One touch, and he realizes vengeance can’t be anywhere near her.

Anger and self-preservation are the only motivations Abby Miller needs or wants right now. Falsely accused of attacking the man who’s terrorized her for years, she’s forced as a plea bargain to attend an anger management counseling group with people with some serious rage issues, while learning true self defense on the side. Yet a man, one more primal than any she’s ever met, draws her in a way and into a world deadlier than she’s ever imagined. He offers her protection, but she finds the fight is really for his heart, and she’s ready to battle.

A standalone novella and new spinoff of RAZ's Dark Protector series. This is one of my favorite novellas from her so far (what I really want is more Brigade novellas). Noah is a hottie with a mission, track down and kill the man responsible for his brothers death. Abby is just trying to survive her probation period until she can get away from her ex-husband and his crooked cop and crooked judge best friends. In typical RAZ fashion nothing goes as planned; Noah getting involved with Abby wasn't what he was looking or even wanted at his point in his life but once it became clear she needed protecting no way was he going to leave her. This short romance is full of asskicking, unexpected friendships, and some hot hot lovemaking.

Overall, a fun read. I can't wait for Tabi, or Raine's stories next in the Rebels series.

His hand slid around her face and tangled in her hair, tilting her head back farther.

She sighed and kissed him, warming right up. Her eyelids opened to see his intense gaze on her. She jerked, her body stilling.

Holding her gaze, he lifted lightly, his lips barely a whisper from hers. “You okay?”

She nodded, even though his hand in her hair contained her movement. “Yes. You?”

“Yes. You want more?” He held himself still, like one of those racehorses in a stall right before the gate opened.

Her nipples peaked. Fast and hard. More? There was more? She should think. Take a step back. “Yes,” she said. “More.”

He moved faster than humanly possible, ducking his head and claiming her lips. This time, there was no gentleness or coaxing. It was all fire and electricity and demand. Hard and fast, he took her mouth, kissing her in a way that took her completely out of the moment.

The rain and cold disappeared along with her fear and sadness. Only passion and fire remained. She let him guide her, opening her mouth, wanting everything he was giving. Never had she felt this. Her body went from a slow heat to a full-on inferno, her thighs trembling for more of him. For all of him.

Headlights barely caught her attention. Then a door slamming. “What the hell?” bellowed a familiar male voice.

She jumped, fear instantly swamping her. “No.”

Noah released her and turned as Monte stomped toward them, fury morphing into red blotches on a face she’d once thought handsome. “What are you doing?” he yelled, arms swinging, getting too close.

Noah partially turned and punched him right in the mouth. Monte went down, splashing through a mudpuddle, his arms windmilling.

Abby gasped, her body chilling instantly. Horror caught her. Oh God. “What have you done?”

ARC REVIEW Demon's Mercy by Rebecca Zanetti

Demon's Mercy (Dark Protectors #9)Dark Protectors #9, Logan! Finally Logan and boy does he meet his match, toe to toe practically the whole way Mercy is no push over. Even as number 9 in the series it can be read as a standalone but if you want more background for this story arc you would really only have to read the one before it, Vampire's Faith. This story arc deals with one very very big bad one that has the potential to end so much but before he breaks out and spreads havak the super secret group, The Seven, that put him away in the first place must replace it's missing members and finally kill big bad. One has been filled, Garret Karys, he barely made it through the ritual and now they are just waiting for the perfect opportunity to have Logan Kyllwood go through the same ritual and hope he too makes it through alive.

The Seven are about to face a foe they have never fought before, instead of just fighting the Kurjans and their high priests the Cysts who are hell bent on freeing big bad they are now fighting the Fae nation. It's not as intimidating as it sounds their numbers are far fewer but they also have technologies and abilities no one in the Realm has seen before. Mercy O'Malley doesn't agree with the way her people are handling this, so she kidnaps Logan instead of outright killing him and tries to explain what the Seven is doing is wrong but in typical Zanetti fashion everything goes FUBAR. One touch, one bite, one sip of his blood and suddenly Logan's mating mark is burning his hand and demanding he take Mercy as his mate.

One positive thing about reading the previous book, especially the spin-off Realm Enforcers, is you really get to see what fun loving and a jokester Logan is and you get to see how finding his mate and fulfilling his destiny matures him. Logan goes full on Alpha male "Me Tarzan, You Jane" kind of moments and it's funny and aggravating all at the same time to have Mercy fighting with him almost the whole way. The whole Fae Nation is pretty obstinate and it makes Mercy's stubborn look open minded. Fucking Fae.

Overall, I really enjoyed Mercy and Logan. If you are already a fan of Zanetti you'll enjoy it and if you are new and you have a thing for a Neanderthal-ish main character and a loyal and adamant fae who's going to do her own thing anyway mixed with lots of fight scenes, a few double crosses, and some really hot romance there's a really good chance you'll enjoy this one. I have been a fan of Zanetti's for a while now and I always enjoy her writing she writes her action and suspense so well, she really know how to build the tension and her romance and sex are so freakin' hot. I can't wait for the rest of the series, Garret is going to be just like his dad and I'm anxious to find out about Hope and the rest of her story.

ARC REVIEW Vampire's Faith by Rebecca Zanetti

Vampire's Faith (Dark Protectors, #8)Dark Protectors #8, They're back baby! With all new characters and bad guys along with some familiar faces. This is the start to a new story arc and can be the starting point, but honestly there are introductions to some characters that would make more sense if you have read the previous books. First and foremost I hated Faith. Her character just royally pissed me off she bordered on TSTL, and I hate that term so I don't use it lightly. I can go on and on about how and why I hate Faith but instead I'm going to talk about how much I loved everything else about this book. I love the idea of The Seven, a secret group that was created to protect everything from this great big bad. A big bad so evil they were barely able to contain it the first time. Ronan and one of his brother's volunteered to be the guardians of his prison in another realm, but seven years ago something happened and it knocked Ronan out of his bubble he's been in a coma ever since...until she walks in the room. Dr. Faith Cooper is a neurologist who has a special connection to people who are in a coma. She got called in to consult with a John Doe when she first sees him she assumes it's  joke, no way that perfect specimen of a man could have been in a coma for seven years, and then he wakes up and starts talking crazy and then kidnaps her. Faith's life has spiraled out of control and she doesn't know who to trust, Ronan and his overbearing alpha maleness who keeps saying she's his mate or Dayne who says the exact opposite of whatever Ronan says but may have a way to bring her sister out of her coma either way her life will never be the same again.

Overall, aside from my hatred of Faith I really did enjoy this book, Zanetti is great with action and romance and this one got pretty hot. I can't wait for Logan's book or Adare's book. Zanetti has created book crack with this series she gets you hooked and there's no turning back. I can't wait to find out more about The Seven and the evil Kurjans and what's going to happen with Hope.

ARC REVIEW Talen by Rebecca Zanetti

Talen is a novella that first appeared in the back of  Wicked Burn. It is an expansion of the Dark Protectors series (7.9!!!) to help tie in the Realm Enforcers and the Dark Protectors series. Now confession time.... Talen isn't my favorite, I know I will gladly drool over the Jason Mamoa look of him but he is really just way to overprotective and spankings are not a punishment (my opinion, especially when the recipient enjoys them, it's like positive reinforcement for bad behaviour and never use sex to manipulate). I love Cara, she is strong and such a great character and believes that with their advanced technologies they should help the mortal world along a little; now with the war over she wants to teach. Talen is his regular overbearing self and doesn't want Cara exposed to any danger.

Before they head off for their well deserved vacation Talen and Cara need to make a quick drop off at the lab so they can have more intensive work done on the virus that negated the mating bond. On the way they are attacked by a mercenary group of demons, after they get rid of one group the shifter help them continue on the rest of the journey, accompanied now by Garrett and Logan. As it is prone to happen in these stories it doesn't go easy for them and Talen and Cara end up in a big fight.

Overall, the story was good, I just didn't care for the interplay between Cara and Talen. And P.S. I want more Terrent and Maggie!

REVIEW & EXCERPT TOUR Tangled by Rebecca Zanetti

About TANGLED:
From New York Times bestselling author, Rebecca Zanetti, comes a new Dark Protectors—Reese Family Novella.
Now that her mask has finally slipped…
Ginny O’Toole has spent a lifetime repaying her family’s debt, and she’s finally at the end of her servitude with one last job. Of course, it couldn’t be easy. After stealing the computer files that will free her once and for all, she finds herself on the run from a pissed off vampire who has never fallen for her helpless act. A deadly predator too sexy for his own good. If he doesn’t knock it off, he’s going to see just how powerful she can really be.
He won’t be satisfied until she’s completely bare.
Theo Reese had been more than irritated at the beautiful yet helpless witch he’d known a century ago, thinking she was just useless fluff who enjoyed messing with men’s heads. The second he discovers she’s a ruthless thief determined to bring down his family, his blood burns and his interest peaks, sending his true nature into hunting mode. When he finds her, and he will, she’ll understand the real meaning of helpless.

I'll admit I was apprehensive I didn't know what to expect with Ginny the manipulative thief, and after not really liking the last one I was cynical but I love Rebecca Zanetti and out of all her 40 plus books I've only read two I didn't care for so with that in mind I jumped back into the Dark Protector-Reese Brother's series and I enjoyed it. As much as I hated Ginny at the end of the last book I didn't think RZ could redeem her but damned if she did it, I actually started to like Ginny toward the end. The story was good, Ginny was forced into a situation she had no control over and did what she had to to survive. Once Theo discovered the severity of the shit she was in he made it his job to fix it for her. Ginny didn't want or need his help but she got it and the full co-operation from the other Reese brothers and kinda sorta the Realm also.

RZ's writing is as always hot, dirty and exciting. Ginny definitely gives Theo a good chase. To me it had kind of that old heist movie feel to it with everything going on. Overall, it was a good read and I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of the Reese family yet.

“I’m sick.” She looked down at her ankle. “The planekite has infected me. There’s no going back.” She shrugged, her jaw firming with the stubborn tilt he somehow knew well. “This is my last chance to save my father, and I’m taking it. You have to step down.”
“I think you’re right about the planekite poisoning,” Theo said, gesturing toward the laptop he’d pushed to the side. “The queen sent me all the research data she has on the mineral, and long-term exposure seems to be fatal. It also explains why you can’t create fire or even heal the bruise on your face.” Every time he looked at the dark mark, he got pissed off.
She cut him a look. “Don’t sugarcoat it.”
“Not going to.” He leaned back and clasped his hands behind his neck, stretching his torso. “I said no lying between us, remember?”
She shoved curls out of her face. “You surely did. So yes. I’m dying. Yay for the truth.”
Wasn’t she cute when she was dramatic? If he told her that, she’d no doubt punch him in the face. So he went for more truth. “So we need to get mated, then.”
She reared up to argue more, stopping suddenly. Her pink lips opened in an O. She closed them, her mouth moved again, and nothing came out.
He bit back a grin. So much for the woman leaping into his arms with gratitude. “Gin?”
Her lids half-lowered, and she pressed her hands against her hips. “You are not funny.”
“I am not kidding.” He wanted her more than he’d ever wanted another woman in his long life. He liked her. Hell. He wanted to be with her. It made sense on so many levels. A voice in the back of his head laughed wildly, and he banished it.
She shook her head in an odd convulsion of denial. “You’ve lost your damn mind, then.”
“Probably,” he agreed.
She swung her arms out. “We can’t get mated. That’s crazy. We can barely get along.”
“We get along just fine,” he countered. “At least we will after you give me back the information that could destroy my entire family.”
“I’m a thief,” she snapped, very nice color filling her face.
He nodded. “I’d very much like for you to find another profession after we mate. Definitely after we procreate.” There were plenty of legal ways to help other people.
“Procreate?” she asked, her voice trembling. “Theo, you’re an old-fashioned guy.”

About TRICKED:
He Might Save Her
Former police psychologist Ronni Alexander had it all before a poison attacked her heart and gave her a death sentence. Now, on her last leg, she has an opportunity to live if she mates a vampire. A real vampire. One night of sex and a good bite, and she’d live forever with no more weaknesses. Well, except for the vampire whose dominance is over the top, and who has no clue how to deal with a modern woman who can take care of herself.
She Might Kill Him
Jared Reese, who has no intention of ever mating for anything other than convenience, agrees to help out his new sister-in-law by saving her friend’s life with a quick tussle in bed. The plan seems so simple. They’d mate, and he move on with his life and take risks as a modern pirate should. Except after one night with Ronni, one moment of her sighing his name, and he wants more than a mating of convenience. Now all he has to do is convince Ronni she wants the same thing. Good thing he’s up for a good battle.

His muscles tightened as he held himself in check.
She stretched her neck, her body moving against him. “I feel so good.” Holding out her hand, she twisted her arm left and right. “Strong. Well, stronger than I just was.”
She rubbed her palm along his whiskers. “That’s not all.”
Yeah. He felt it, too. Attraction. So he turned her to straddle him, feeling her body warm several degrees. “Let me know if I go too fast.”
She leaned in and settled her lips on his. “The first time I saw you, I thought wow. A real wow.”
Her breath brushed his mouth, and he stiffened to remain in control. “Is that a fact?” he asked, waiting for her to make a move. The last thing he wanted to do was frighten her, and he couldn’t tell how much stronger his blood had made her. If at all.
“Yes.” She nibbled at his bottom lip.
Magma boiled through his blood. “When I first saw you, I thought your eyes were the prettiest color I’d ever seen,” he said against her mouth. “Like a fine whiskey that has just caught the light.”
She kissed him, and he could feel her smile. “That’s sweet,” she whispered.Yeah. That was him. Sweet. Nobody in his entire life had called him that. “I don’t want to rush you,” he said.
She tunneled her hands through his hair and hummed. “But we’re on a bit of a deadline?”
“Yeah.” The slight tug of her fingers hazed red over his vision. “Don’t know how long your extra strength will last.” Probably not very long. And there could be repercussions to her damaged heart from his blood, so they had to mate and now. He stood, easily holding her to him. “Bedroom.”
She wrapped her legs around his waist. “Um. Okay.”

  About
TEASED:
The Hunter For almost a century, the Realm’s most deadly assassin, Chalton Reese, has left war and death in the past, turning instead to strategy, reason, and technology. His fingers, still stained with blood, now protect with a keyboard instead of a weapon. Until the vampire king sends him on one more mission; to hunt down a human female with the knowledge to destroy the Realm. A woman with eyes like emeralds, a brain to match his own, and a passion that might destroy them both—if the enemy on their heels doesn’t do so first.
The Hunted Olivia Roberts has foregone relationships with wimpy metro-sexuals in favor of pursuing a good story, bound and determined to uncover the truth, any truth. When her instincts start humming about missing proprietary information, she has no idea her search for a story will lead her to a ripped, sexy, and dangerous male beyond any human man. Setting aside the unbelievable fact that he’s a vampire and she’s his prey, she discovers that trusting him is the only chance they have to survive the danger stalking them both.

portrait of the elegant man on dark

I love this series! The ever present secondary character Chalton finally gets his HEA. Chalton use to be an assassin but tired of all the killing and the murder of his father he turned to Intel and computer geek. Olivia is writing the story of a life time. A source had contacted her about a different race living amongst us blending in. Olivia has now found herself the target of some very unwanted attention, and her only hope to get out of this mess alive, Chalton.

These two are great.Olivia is a little spit fire and Chalton so serious but is greatly amused by Olivia. It becomes obvious that she is an enhanced human and therefore capable of mating. This case also reunites Chalton and his brothers. More amusing antics between the brothers makes this action paranormal romance with the perfect amount of humor a well rounded story and a very very good read.

The story itself, fits in perfectly with the rest of the series, and I hope Jared and Theo get their own stories because I am in love with them all.

“Are you empathic?” he murmured.
She jerked. “No. I don’t think so.”
Interesting. “But you can tell a falsehood?” He’d never heard of an enhanced female being able to do so, but it could be an offshoot of empathic abilities, so it did make some sense.
“I just have good instincts.”
Ah, the lies humans told themselves to avoid anything they couldn’t rationalize with logic. He stepped right into her space.
“What are you doing?” she gasped, her chest rising.
He slid curly dark hair off her shoulder. “I’m facing a bit of a dilemma.”
Her head lifted, although her gaze only reached his lips and stayed there. “How so?” Her voice lowered to a breathiness that licked along his cock.
“I need a shower to wipe off the blood and grime, so my choices are to bind you or have you join me.” It was crazy, but he’d give his left arm for her to join him in the shower.
She half-coughed and half-laughed. “Are you hitting on me?”
His hand curled around her nape. “Yes.”
Her gaze lifted to his, and her pupils widened. “That’s insane,” she whispered.
“I know.” Hell, the woman was right. “But here’s the deal. My brothers won’t return for several hours, and then we’ll have to move again. I want you, and you want me, so let’s take the edge off so we can think.” His mind hadn’t been clear since he’d first sighted her two days ago, and he needed clarity. One good night, and he could get her out of his system. “What do you say?”
“I say you’re crazy.” She stepped back against the window. “If all I wanted was an orgasm to take the edge off, I sure as heck don’t need you for that.”
Humor bubbled up, and he full-on laughed. The woman was one of a kind. “Well then.” His hands slowly went to unbuckle his belt, and he drew the heavy leather through the loopholes, quite enjoying the way her breath caught and her eyes widened. “Plan B it is, then.”

REVIEW Marked by Rebecca Zanetti

I truly loved this series. Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protectors series is the epitome of Alpha males. From Fated with Talon to this newest one with, finally, Zane you have strong, devoted, Alpha males who when they love they love hard. I, like many others were very excited for this book's release, some of us have been waiting since the very first introduction of Zane and Janie in Fated. Marked is a game changer it's the end of the Dark Protectors series but it is by no means permanently over. Rebecca Zanetti has several spin offs planned the first series being The Realm Enforcers centering around the witch Kellach Dunne.

Zane and Janie have come along way, and with peace talks starting it is finally revealed just what Zane is, a big secret throughout the series. I guessed what it was back in Hunted, but I guess I'm just that good because several of my other Rebels were very surprised by the outcome. (NO SPOILERS!) The Demons and The Kurjans can not be trusted. The peace talks have started and everyone has stated what they want and with that all out in the air Janie's life is put even more in danger. Zane has a plan but he hasn't filled in Janie so when the Kurjans do a mass attack on the Kayrs Zane pops up and kidnaps Janie. He saves her life but that really doesn't matter he ends up stealing her shoes to keep her there in the Alaskan wilderness until he gets other things in motion, like finding his mother and saving his two younger brothers. Humorous scene when Zane finally brings Janie back to the Kayrs compound.

The virus debonding the mates gets airborne and everything seriously gets worse. It's looks like the end of the vampires but miracles tend to happen when things are looking the darkest. This book was absolutely everything I hoped it would be.
