An intense Psychological Thriller. Jennifer Harlow has the promise to make a great series with this brilliant, compassionate, and grieving woman Iris Ballard. Once an accomplished FBI agent who made a name for herself profiling and never being wrong; unfortunately her last case ended in disaster, well for her it did, the good guys won but she lost her husband and her will to continue on and almost her sanity. This book was not shy on the descriptions, and I liked it! It wasn't needlessly gory but descriptive at all the right parts for the right reasons. It's told in Iris' point of view so she told it like it was and she didn't hold back. If she thought it was gross it was described aptly. The Woodsman is a serial killer, although I knew who it was from the very start, it does reveal who he is around the halfway point and that makes this even more so a good thriller because Iris knows, and he knows that Iris knows and he also knows she can't do a damn thing about because there is no evidence. He is a great manipulator and that's what makes him so scary. There is also Luke, Iris' old partner, and he comes off as a bit of an ass at the beginning but as the story progresses you see him for who he really is and that's a great guy.
Iris just wants to be forgotten, to forget, she can't sleep and even when she gives in and pops couple of pills she doesn't sleep for long, so she lives off of candy bars and vodka. There is a serial killer on the loose and as much as she tries to avoid it as soon as she sees Luke's face as the FBI Special Agent In Charge she knows it's only a matter of time before he shows up at her doorstep. Luke knows all the right buttons to push to get her interested in the case and before the night's over she at his hotel room with a profile. Luke trusts her implicitly and brings her in as a consultant. When another woman goes missing and they are following the clues Iris' name is leaked to the media and the Woodman takes an interest in her. It doesn't take long for Iris to figure out who the Woodman is he fits her profile to a tee, but proving it is a whole different matter.
Overall, this definitely goes in my favorites group. It really reminded me of two books Kiss the Girls by James Patterson, The Maze by Catherine Coulter. If the series continues on this path I can see it being just as good as Iris Johansen's Eve Duncan series if not better.

ARC REVIEW The Crazy Cat Ladies Anthology
The full name for this crazy anthology is The Crazy Cat Ladies: Nine New Contemporary and Paranormal Romances Ready to Tempt You with an Alpha Hero to Walk on the Wild Side by Lisa Carlisle, Melanie Ting, Lori Whyte, Jerri Drennen, Sukie Chapin, L.C. Alleyne, Elle Rush, Abby Cheshire, Sidney Bristol. I enjoyed this collection it's a little bit of everything and for just being .99 cents it's a great deal. Out of the nine I've only read Sidney Bristol before and out of the eight new authors I only disliked one story.
The Vet and the Geek: By Sidney Bristol
Love, Love, Love, love, love. I loved Miranda, I loved Raul, I love the whole Geeks Gone Wild series, I loved this story, and I love Sidney Bristol. Miranda is the kind of person I wish I could be she had a dream and she went for it and didn't let anything or anyone stand in her way. ( Although with how I am I'm probably more like Tamara) Raul is a sweetheart, who wouldn't love a sexy vet. I've said it before and I'll say it again I love the whole Geeks Gone Wild concept, the friendship and that they stand by each other no matter what. The story was fantastic the conflict between Miranda and her stalker, and the internal struggle Miranda is going through that affects her relationship with Raul. Sidney Bristol is just so talented; geek, suspense, humor, and romance she manages to tie it all in so well.
Mr. November: By Melanie Ting
How have I not read this author before, must read more soon. Melanie Ting managed to make an erotica romance so damn sweet. I loved that Marty, the enforcer and most feared guy on the team of the Vancouver Vice hockey team, is such a shy and sweet guy. I liked that Elaine is straightforward and wasn't afraid to make the first move or admit when she made a mistake. I enjoyed that the whole hockey team was there for Marty to try and help with Elaine and not to forget Knightley such a sweety.
Cat Scratch Fever: By L.C. Alleyne
I'm not familiar with this author but I have to say I'm intrigued. Smokin' hot Brazilian panther shifter who lives in Norway and whose best friend is a Norwegian Forest Cat (I love those big beautiful wild cats). Rafael is alpha male to the tee and when it comes to his potential mate he's willing to risk his career. Kristin I think bit off more than she could chew when she decided to help a friend and go undercover to take down a drug ring run by someone high in the Brazilian government hierarchy. The story had a nice twist and was very exciting and hooked me from the start to finish.
Decker and Joy: A North Pole Unlimited Romance: By Elle Rush
I want more, this seems like it would be a really cute series. Decker is a private investigator whose future rest on finding a certain toy that's not market ready on behalf of the NPU corporation. Joy is enjoying her time as the manager of Kitten Caboodle, but it was only suppose to be part time until she got her veterinarian's assistant diploma but that was years ago and she knows it's time to move on. Decker tracks the toys GPS tracker to the mall and not only does he find what he's looking for with a little bit of effort he finds his HEA too. This was a sweet story and a wonderful mystery.
Cats in the Cradle: By Jerri Drennen
Another mystery, this one is a small suburb where the local crazy cat lady gets stuck in the middle of a sticky situation. Beatrice is a psychiatrist on the mend of her own emotional breakdown keeps a close watch on her neighborhood with a new neighbor and a murder she can't help but speculate but that only leads to bring Sam into her life. Sam is house sitting for his sitter and trying to get his writing career back on track, and the meddling neighbor only leads to act as a muse for his own story. Beatrice wanting to learn more about the murder just raises more questions and unwanted feelings for Sam. This was a really good one with an unexpected ending.
Forgive Me (Sanctuary Lake #2): By Lori Whyte
Don't let the fact that this is the second book in a series it can be read as a standalone. Another Mystery although a little heavier on the romance and suspense. This is a second chance romance Rachel and Grady fell in love in high school but with his family's bad reputation he didn't want to taint her with it and now he's back in town, they are both single living next door to her and what bring them together is a severed finger. This was a very exciting read if not a little predictable but I would like to know more about those brothers.
Sanctuary: By Sukie Chapin
Okay, so this is the one I didn't like, it just wasn't for me. The story was just very drawn out and boring and FYI: CLIFFHANGER. Indy runs a big cat sanctuary and hires Jake to help out. Jake is lying about his past and the only thing he wants is his lion back. There is a lot of internal struggle and dialogue for both Indy who is still struggling with the death of her mother and Jake who was framed to look like he abused his lion. The story goes in circles for a 22 chapters (short chapters) one chapter of foreplay then one chapter of sex then it's over; the story just felt incomplete. I couldn't not connect to the characters by the end I just didn't care anymore.
Mr. Hot Stuff: By Abby Cheshire
Cute, sweet, and so romantic. Poor Lily has suffered through eight horrible blind dates and her newest fur baby is a klepto who keeps stealing the car keys from their new neighbor; the neighbor Lily has been crushing on since he moved in. Lily's godmother/landlady has one last blind date lined up for Lily and then she promises no more. But with Lily what can go wrong will go wrong first the line of bad dates, she sprains her ankle and accidently falls on a cactus in front of her crush who it looks like has a beautiful girlfriend already. When she finally gives in on the blind date she gets stood up. But Lily's godmother isn't ready for her to give up just yet. This was a funny story, I hated to laugh at Lily's misfortune but it was so amusing and it really had such a sweet ending.
Dress Blues:By Lisa Carlisle
The last book in the collection and definitely one of my favorites. I liked the bit of role reversal going on with this story; normally it's the hero who goes off to war and comes back broken but in this story it's the heroine who comes home broken. Vivi and Jack were both Marines, they met while stationed in Japan and quickly started to fall for each other but Jack was an officer and Vivi was enlisted and that is very big no no, so they each went their separate ways but never forgetting one another. A couple years later they run into each other at a charity function. What may look like happenstance is what Vivi has been secretly hoping for ever since she moved to Boston; knowing it was Jack's home town when she decided to move there. This was relatively conflict free except for Vivi's internal struggle with her damaged leg and letting Jack in, but it was such a great story to read.
Overall, this was a great collection.

ARC REVIEW Roadside Assistance by Marie Harte
Body Shop Bad Boys book two by Marie Harte. It was funny and cute, I liked it. Foley was a sweetheart if not a little clueless at times and Cyn has her issues but I can emphasize with that. This book has just a little conflict, between Cyn and her insecurities and Sam, the best friend and brother by bond, and his insecurities it was an easy read and you can always count on Marie Harte for a HOT read and this is a hot read.
Foley fell in lust the first time Cyn came over to Murphy's and busted his balls. Seems like the new guy parked the cars in the wrong lot and Cyn the co-owner of the coffee shop next door didn't like her park lot filled with cars that weren't her customers. Foley moved the cars and asked for a date, but Cyn being the ball buster she is turned him down at first. Foley isn't one to give up easily especailly with a knockout like Cyn. She finally gives in but her insecurities thanks to past boyfriends and her own mother have her not believing that a guy like Foley would like a big girl like her. Foley works hard to try and prove his feeling are genuine and that he likes her exactly the way she is. But it doesn't help that Sam is feeling left out and sabotaging the relationship or the fact that Cyn's mom is continually telling her that she is to fat and she's never be able to keep a man if she's not thin and that she will end up sad and alone and her only way to happiness is to find a husband and make him happy. Cyn is confused and between her own mother and Sam she's at a loss of what to do. Thankfully Foley's mom is awesome.
Overall this was a good book and as much of a screw up that Sam is in this book I'm glad his story is next.

ARC REVIEW Heated Pursuit by April Hunt
Heated Pursuit is the first book of April Hunt's debut of The Alpha Security series. As first books go this was a great introduction into the world April Hunt has created. The introduction to all the men (and one woman) of Alpha Security was just enough to let you know personality type but not to revealing and not so in depth to take away from the story or the main characters. The book starts off really well, what better way for the two to meet than Penny grabbing Rafe in the gonads. Very exciting book the pace kept steady throughout. The active setting was skillful very believable and exciting from the dirty streets of Honduras to the middle of nowhere jungle. And Penny although stubborn no so much that she risks her life doing something stupid just because they told her not to and she chose not to listen, Penny's smart about when she disobeys a command she understands it's not just her life at risk. Rafe is everything Penny didn't want in a guy, her father was military and very closed off and always gone to the point that he didn't even raise her but a friend of the family. Rafe grew up alone with no family and he knows that how his life was in the military and now with Alpha Security he's in no place for a committed relationship he doesn't know how. The chemistry between the two was almost instantaneous and once they gave in there is no going back.
Penny Kline is a social worker turned bail enforcement officer, and now she's in Honduras trying to find her niece. Her niece Rachel is only a few years younger than her and I wish it had explained the family a little more than it did. Rachel was working in a small village in Honduras when she went missing.. Penny only knows because Rachel sent a frantic email before saying she was in trouble and something bad was going to happen. Penny dropped everything and flew to Honduras. Rafe and the team of Alpha Security were in Honduras tracking down a dangerous drug lord who is on the verge of letting loose a highly addictive new drug in America. Penny's surrogate brother Trey is also a member of Alpha and they run into each other, or something, and after Penny proves herself she's allowed to help because there is no way she is leaving with out Rachel. Penny and Rafe go undercover and soon end up as lovers. But when the shit hits the fan and they end up lost in the jungle they have to depend on each other to get out alive.
It was all very exciting I inhaled the book in half a day I could not put it down. Overall, this was a great book and I look forward to the rest of the series.

ARC REVIEW What the Duke Doesn't Know by Jane Ashford
The Duke's Sons book two, What the Duke Doesn't Know. It's a charming book with an okay storyline, James was great, Kawena was a little annoying at first but she was adjusting to English society and she became less annoying as the book went one. I liked that she was Polynesian, usually if the Author is doing a mixed race it Indian or Caribbean, or the author has the heroine American or Australian if they don't want her British. Now I have seen Spanish, French, and Eastern Europe or Russian but still I think this might be my first Polynesian, so it was something different for me and I really liked it. (I love the model on the cover, love her expression.)
Kawena Benson traveled all the way from her little island in the South Pacific to find the man who stole her inheritance. Captain James Gresham and his ship were the only boat docked when Kawena's inheritance disappeared. Her father planned ahead for her future and stock piled jewels and gem stone, he died shortly after discovering them missing. Kawena fearless left home for the first time aboard a friend's ship dressed as a boy and traveled to England. Her initial intention was just to scare the man but when he rushed her the gun accidently went off, thankfully noone was hurt. James was visiting his brother in Oxford wondering what he would do with his life now that his ship has been decommissioned when the beautiful dark haired, dark eyed Kawena attacks him.
James and Kawena set off to find the real culprit but all their leads are dead ends. By a stroke of luck Kawena finds them, I'm not gonna tell you how. But that opens all society doors for her since the jewels are worth a veritable fortune now the "native girl" is the toast of the ton. Kawena wants to show James that she can be "Proper" since he has spent most of the book telling her everything she does isn't proper. Along with a friend and a chaperone Kawena rents a house in Oxford, she also has something big planned something just for James and her. Unfortunately her fortune also bring to light unwanted previously unknown family; her father's brother and his horrid family. But fortunately Kawena has friends in high places and James and his family are there to stand with her against them. If only James can convince Kawena he likes her just as she is and if Kawena will understand that James never wanted her to change.
Overall, the book was entertaining I liked it well enough. The first book Heir to the Duke and the third book Lord Sebastian's Secret run pretty much parallel with this one so there are references what's happening in the previous book and to the next one. I am however really looking forward to Flora and Robert's story.

I have been anxious for Tristan's story since the start of the series, I normally don't read M/M, I got burned out on them a couple of years ago, but Tristan was special. If he was a real person it would make a straight woman complain why did he have to be gay. Alex is the kind of hot that has girls dropping their panties he also is a tortured alpha hero. Together Tristan and Alex are... WOW.
I think the blurb says it pretty well what the story is about, and Melissa Foster is great at drawing out the characters and making them real. Your heart beats fast with their's and hurts when they do and you cry with them and not just the main characters either the secondary characters you really get to know and you look forward to them getting their own book (especially the little man whore Brandon, gotta love him). Tristan with how easy it is for him to give his heart and Alex who has been so used to pushing everything down they needed each other. Tristan needed Alex to show him he just needed the right person to love and Alex needed Tristan to show him how to love.
It was a great story, very dirty those scenes between the two of them, dang that's hot. It was a little draw out in parts but it all fit and was very well done.
“Can I ask you something? You don’t have to answer.”
Tristan shrugs. “Have at it."
“Why were you taking a break? I get that your ex was a prick, but is there more to it?”
He looks down the street, across the street, and then his hand cruises through his hair as it has so often that I’ve already come to expect it when he’s nervous.
“Ian was a prick, but the rest is going to make me sound like a pussy,” he admits.
“I’ve only known you a day, and I already know nothing can make you sound like a pussy.”
He meets my gaze, and his jaw tightens. He lifts his chin and I recognize the struggle between feeling proud and worrying about looking weak. I fight that battle on a daily basis.
“I give away my heart too easily, and I end up getting hurt.”
His eyes never leave mine, and that trust, that confidence, is the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.
“I was right. Nothing can make you sound like a pussy.” I slide my hand to the hard ridge of his jaw and lean in closer. “I’ve never given my heart away. That makes you braver than me.”

ARC REVIEW In Safe Hands by Katie Ruggle
In Safe Hands is the conclusion to the story arc for the series. So far someone has tried blame Ian for the headless guys murder, someone has tried to kill Lou, and silence Ellie and her father. In the end of the last book, no I'm not going to say it although it was kind of an eye roll for me, it revealed the murder. Know with me being disappointed with the whodunnit I didn't know what to expect with this one. I was pleasantly surprised. Katie Ruggle kind of blended together Rear Window, Gaslight, and CopyCat with her own crazy good story. This book is definitely more of a thriller than a suspense. Daisy Little our heroine suffered a huge trauma and it left her agoraphobic. Afraid to leave the house she has trapped herself inside locking the world outside her house safely on the outside. Besides her father her only link to the outside world is Sheriff's Deputy Chris Jennings. Chris feels responsible for Daisy, not only because he love her but he was also the one who saved her all those years ago.
Much like Jimmy Stewart's character in Rear Window, Daisy watches her neighbors and one night sees something she can't explain. What looks like a man carrying a dead body out of the empty house next door and placing it in an official Sheriff's SUV. Daisy confides in Chris who starts looking into it but soon things start happening, things she can't prove things that are making her doubt her sanity. But Chris is there to reassure her that she is not, he even introduces her to Lou, Ellie, Rory and their significant others. Together they talk about the previous events and how they all connect and how Daisy's incidents are connected as well. They even figure out the common denominator in all of it which leads to a very exciting climactic conclusion.
Daisy and Chris are so cute the way they danced around each other. It's obvious they have feelings for each other but because what happened they both feel guilty for two different reasons and that is what's holding them back. But once the truth gets out there is no holding back for either of them. Overall, this exceeded my expectations. it was a great read and I hope this is not the end of the series.

ARC REVIEW Race the Darkness by Abbie Roads
This book takes paranormal to a new level. It is a paranormal mystery thriller with a touch of Dark Fairy/Folk tale. I loved this book! I thought Abbie Roads was just brilliant with the story. I will sing it's praises from the rooftops. Very rarely has a debut author surprised me with the awesomeness of her first book. (Both other debut books were earlier this year). The Romantic Suspense aspect is wonderfully creepy and suspenseful from the repeated attempts on Isleen's life right to the crazy religious zealot doing it. The Paranormal and the Dark Fairy Tale fit in together. Xander and Isleen are tied together, bound by some mystical ancient story. Even before they meet Isleen and Xander know that there's something someone out there, like they are missing a piece of themselves. Xander a bit of an ass and that pretty obvious from the very beginning. I love how the book started it was a great introduction to Xander and how and why he's so damn special. Isleen and her grandmother were kidnapped and for the last several years held in a trailer in the middle of nowhere starved and tortured pushed to the verge of death and brought back. Until one night when Isleen is sure she's going to die, Xander finds her.
Xander was struck by lighting and the result was Lichtenberg figure, which means he's horribly scarred on half of his body. He also became able to hear what others do not, what others are thinking. He has become the BCI's troubleshooter at integrations. To Xander it almost seems like there's someone else living in his head whom he refers to as The Bastard in His Brain. Tonight the bastard is restless and there is another voice in his head, a female calling out for help, on the verge of death. Xander follows his gut it's something the Bastard is telling him to do where to go and it leads him to a trailer in the middle of nowhere. Inside the trailer Isleen lies emaciated and half dead. Once Xander finds Isleen he's never going to let her go again and nothing bad will ever happen to her again, but something things are even out of his control.
When Isleen is better she starts having dreams strange vivid dreams. After three of these strange dreams Xander realizes what they are, prophetic dreams of what can or is happening. Once Alex, Xander's father, realizes what's happening he fills them in on a Legend of Fearless and Bear. There is so much to this book it really is one you have to read yourself to get the whole impact of the story. But what a story it is. Overall, read this book.

ARC REVIEW Tainted Bride by A.S. Fenichel
I love books like this, books that I know have been a labor of love and healing for the author. It's a very emotional and heartfelt story and knowing that so much of the author's self is put into makes it so much better. In her acknowledgements in the beginning of the book she says this book was part of a healing process, you can tell the emotion behind the hurt and the tragedy was palpable. The writing was beautifully done, the character development was clear and well done. Lady Daphne is a great supporting character, she was exactly what Sophia needed. Dorothea was another great supporting character outspoken, straightforward and fearless and the voice of reason when Sophia needed it the most. Sophia and Daniel are perfect for each other it's plain as day but the process of them realizing it is a difficult one but so sweet of an outcome.
Sophia was foisted on to her great aunt so she could have a season in London after an event that ruined her first season in Philadelphia three years ago. Sophia has resigned herself to never get married she plans to just go through the motions to appease Aunt Daphne but she won't marry. Even after meeting the dashing Daniel Fallon the Earl of Marlton who makes her stomach go aflutter she can not allow herself to love him. Daniel had no immediate plans to marry but just after one night, one ball Daniel can think of noone else but Sophia. Daniel has reservations, he feels like he can't trust himself after what happened last time, and he won't be taken for a fool this time. When the villain from Sophia's past who ruined her shows up in London, Sophia is scared and shocked especially when a rumor about her not being innocent comes out in the paper. Daniel can't help but believe what he heard but something about how Sophia acts doesn't ring true about the rumor. Sophia tells Daniel the truth about what happened three years ago and why she can never marry. ARC REVIEW Wolf Betrayed by Carrie Ann Ryan
Talon Pack book four and the first menage for this series I believe. These three are stunning! Charlotte, Bram and Shane they deserve each other they need each other. Bram is the strength, Charlotte is the heart and Shane is the glue that sticks them all together. Charlotte believes the Goddess is punishing her for being who she is the daughter of the wolf who nearly destroyed the Redwood Pack. Bram has loved Charlotte for as long as he could remember but the mating bond didn't snap into place like they had hoped, leaving both of them heart broken. Bram will not settle for anyone other than Charlotte. Shane was just a soldier he was doing what he was told until it became clear to him that the man in charge was doing something very wrong and he tried to help but that just ended with him being used as a guinea pig.
Half dead and smelling like a wolf Gideon did the only thing he could to keep Shane from dying he brought him into the pack. Finn had a feeling that he needed to bring Charlotte with him to the Talon pack. When Charlotte gets there she is shocked to find that the soldier who once worked with General Montag is a potential mate. Bram goes to the Talon pack and just like with Charlotte, Bram is a potential mate with Shane. It's touch and go there for a bit while they all figure things out and with General Montag still on the lose things are still a bit uncertain. With Shane's help the Talon and Redwood packs destroy the facility where Shane was taken and changed into whatever it is that he was changed into and along with it the drug that made him this way. Nothing of the drug remains except what still might be in Shane's blood and that's what Montag wants now. After a rough start Charlotte, Bram, and Shane finally come to terms with what's happening and accept the possibility of happiness between the three of them. Montag however does not give up easily.
Overall, another great story and climactic...big battle. Charlotte and her men, woooo, it's getting hot in here.

The story starts off with Izzy and Liam's first meeting six years ago before Izzy got really heavy into drugs. One fantastic night and a bad decision later and Izzy went through five years of hell but she is clean she has made amends with her family and she has a good job at Kinnections and one she's good at. Everyone thinks Izzy is ready for a relationship sooo three little words "Book of Spells". Alexa gets Izzy to do the spell and the next day Liam walks back into her life. Liam didn't change he is still sex on a stick, older and wiser and still head over heals for Izzy. He knew it was special after that one night and now that she's in his life again he's not going to let her go before she knows just how much she deserves that HEA. But Izzy is her own worst enemy.
Overall, really good! It's a shame it's only a enovella but I don't think it would have worked as a full length book. I loved the that they are both Star Wars geeks and the two puppies, yep Jennifer knows how to win her way in to our hearts, Puppies.

ARC REVIEW If I Had You by Heather Hiestand
I love the Roaring Twenties the dresses, art nouveau, the dancing, the Jazz! I'll pass on the gin though. I really liked Alecia I think if I had been alive in the twenties I would have been like her a little country mouse moving to the big city with dreams of being a jazz baby. I like Ivan because he has accepted his lot in life even after what happened to his family and he's all about the here and now and not dwell on what has happened, he likes his job and he does it well. I love the active setting, I can easily picture the Grand Russe Hotel the fancy art nouveau style the jazz playing in the background. All the characters were interesting, all the other hotel employees have you wondering which one will be next to have a book about them.
Alecia Loudon moved to London to work as a secretary for a Director/actor and his actress wife. She lives with them in one of the suites of the Grand Russe Hotel and every night she sneaks downstairs to listen to the jazz music through the wall that the hotel shares with the nightclub. She has been dreaming of life as a jazz baby and the good looking and mysterious security guard working the night shift. Ivan and his sister are refugees from Russia, they were luckily enough to be out of the country when a family member turned in their parents and their other sister for treason. Ivan has moved on but his sister has not let it go and when the man responsible for their parents death arrives in London and is staying at The Grand Russe she wants her pound of flesh. Ivan is happy with their life now and he doesn't want to risk his life or his sister's life with revenge that won't help only hurt and it won't bring back their family. But she gets in with the wrong crowd and the assassination plot becomes a serious problem.
Ivan finally gets up the nerve to talk to the beautiful blue eyed woman he always sees on his rounds with her head against the wall listening to the music through the wall. Alecia is a shy and sweet young woman who dreams of a life of glamour but after meeting Ivan and experiencing what the life could be like she realizes she would rather be a wife and mother but first she has to help Ivan figure out what to do with his sister and the assassination of not just the Russian Diplomat but British political leaders too. Overall, I really liked this one I love that even after they became intimate they were worried about propriety and not living together until they got married.

ARC REVIEW AND EXCERPT TOUR Midnight Untamed by Lara Adrian
We are thrilled to bring you the Review & Excerpt Tour for MIDNIGHT UNTAMED by Lara Adrian, a novella in her Midnight Breed Series brought to you by 1001 Dark Nights. Grab your copy of this sexy novella today!
About MIDNIGHT UNTAMED:
The mission was supposed to be simple. Infiltrate an enemy’s stronghold outside Rome and eliminate its leader. For a Breed warrior as lethal as Ettore Selvaggio, AKA “Savage”, stealth assassinations are only one of his many cold-hearted specialties. But the last thing Savage expects to find behind enemy lines—in his target’s bed—is a woman he once adored.
It’s been years since Savage last saw beautiful Arabella Genova. Years he’s strived to banish to his past, along with the fierce desire he once felt toward Bella . . . and the irresistible calling of her blood that stirs in him even now, despite the fact that she belongs to another male.
But when fate throws Savage and Bella together again in a race for their lives, will his long-lost love prove to be the one woman he can’t live without, or the perfect weapon to destroy him?

What I like about how Lara Adrian wrote this is that it doesn't matter if you're up to date on the series, I'm not, and I still enjoyed this immensely. Other than being really short, only 120 pages, it was not lacking at all; action, romance, rogues and the intro to a new hunter. A second chance romance between Ettore and Arabella. Arabella has the gift of second sight and found herself in a situation not of her doing and completely out of her control. Ettore is on the hunt for people involved with the deadly drug Red Dragon his one mission is to take out Massioni. He never expected to find the one woman he has never stopped loving living with Massioni. But saving her just leads to more trouble. Overall, this was a really good quick read.
Savage turned onto a narrow two-lane and headed for the Genova family vineyard even before Bella pointed to give him directions. He had been born in the same southern province of Italy, and, like her, he had spent the better part of his youth traipsing around the volcanic soil foothills of the region’s imposing Mount Vulture.
Unlike Bella, however, he had no family of his own. Whoever his parents were, they’d been gone from his life soon after he was born. Abandoned when he was just a baby, he’d been raised in one Darkhaven orphanage after another until he was old enough to take care of himself.
He thought he’d found something close to family when he met Bella’s brother, Consalvo, at university and the two became fast friends. He had regarded Sal like a brother, helped work the vineyard with the family as if it was his own.
For a long time, he had actually believed he’d found someplace to belong.
He had belonged…until his desire for Arabella had been found out and he’d been informed by her father that he was no longer welcome there.
Not good enough for his daughter.
Bella deserved something better.
Hell, Savage wouldn’t argue that, even now.
But as he glanced over at her and watched her lovely face turn ashen with dread on their approach to the long gravel drive that led to the homestead at the base of the mountain, he felt a wave of possessiveness—and protectiveness—he could not deny.
And he felt guilt too.
For leaving her the way he had, for letting her think he didn’t care.
For not being present to ensure that she never knew a moment of pain or heartache or fear.
All the things he could see playing across her features now.
Because of him.
She sucked in a sharp breath when she spotted the ominous-looking, empty black sedan parked halfway up the drive to the rambling villa. “Oh, no. Ettore, we’re too late.”
He clamped his molars tight, holding back the curse that leaped to his tongue. She was right. It didn’t look good.

ARC REVIEW Dangerous Protector by Sidney Bristol
Dangerous Protector is book five in Sidney Bristol's Aegis Group series. This one is tense. I have run out of ways to say how great Sidney Bristol's writing really is, I can not get enough of her romantic suspense. What I love is that it pretty much is nonstop action the slower parts are filled with them getting to know each other and hot steamy sex. Can't go wrong with this series.
Fiona is stuck living inside the box, under the protection of the WPP for something she did when she was young and dumb. One night she decides to take a risk and on the night she does she meets Marco, denim and leather clad hunk with a stoic face. Marco is trying to right a wrong. His family was wronged when a huge corporation bought out his grandparents land right out from underneath them and uses it for toxic dumping. Fiona gets caught between and corporate espionage and Marco's sabotage which leads to the reveal of who she really is and the sociopathic hacker trying to kill her.
Marco is supposed to use Fiona as his in to take down the company, but he realizes once meeting her he can't do it, especially after he sleeps with her. His super secret hacker extraordinaire friend Ghost helps him along the way and also reveals they are not the only ones hacking into the system. This leads to a chain reaction of shit hitting the fan to more bigger piles of shit hitting the fan especially after Fiona finds out Marco's initial intentions. But what Marco did and how he feels for Fiona now he's not going to let anything happen to her no matter what, even when she doesn't trust him.
Once again Sidney's active setting is outstanding. Her first hand experience of the Moab desert really comes out as she describes the beauty and the dangers of the place so well and the action is heart pounding. Overall another winner from the talented Sidney Bristol.

The heat is on…
Paramedic Lexi Fletcher is thrilled to transfer to Station 58. For one thing, her commute time is half of what it used to be. For another, Station 58 has a much better facility and far more exciting calls. It doesn’t hurt that Dane Chandler, the firefighter she’s been crushing on since joining Dallas and Rescue, works there. Okay, to tell the truth, maybe Dane is the biggest reason she requested the move!
But just when things with Dane start to heat up, Lexi’s dream job takes a turn in the freaky direction. Patients she’s been bringing to the hospital are turning up dead, even though they were in stable condition when she dropped them off. Her instincts are screaming there’s something fishy going on, but she can’t figure out what it is, and she can’t get anyone to believe her—except Dane.
Can he help her find the killer and stop him from striking again, or will Lexi become the target of a madman?

Ablaze is the second novella in Paige Tyler's Dallas Fire & Rescue series. It's all part of her Dallas Fire & Rescue Kindle World, it is pretty big she has almost thirty authors writing with her. Ablaze takes place sometime after the events of Rekindled (really good one too!) Dane Chandler has had his eye on the sexy paramedic Lexi Fletcher ever since she transferred over from another station. Lexi transferred over to Station 58 so she could be closer to the sexy Dane. They had been watching each other waiting until they knew the feelings would be reciprocated. While the entire station has been taking bets on when they would finally hook-up. One night on a particularly bad call Dane falls through the floor and Lexi and her partner Trent are there to take him to the hospital and Dane finally has the courage enough to ask Lexi out. Thing go great Dane and Lexi have great chemistry and easily fall into each other's arms. And as soon as Dane gets over his high handedness and double standard and accepts the Lexi's job is just as dangerous as his and there isn't a damn thing he can do about it the happier they both will be. But something fishy has been happening at the hospital, and Lexi thinks she knows.... Shhhh, no spoilers.

If you are curious and didn't get a chance to read this one I recommend it not just because it's the first book of the series but it's a damn good book! Jax and Skye are a great couple with a wonderful story to go with it.
Skye's parents died when she was in high school after she graduated her brother Dane persuaded her to go to college, Skye has been gone for ten years and now she back, she done living for other people she is going to follow her dream of opening a bakery; and her hotel is on fire. Jax has known Skye and Dane since they were kids, Jax left after high school and felt bad for Skye when he couldn't be there for her after her parents died. Ten years later Jax is pulling Skye from a burning building.
Skye doesn't want Dane to know she is back yet she wanted everything in place because she knows he will freak when he finds out she quit her high paying job in New York to become a baker. (and he does) Jax offers her his extra room until she gets back on her feet, and the rest just falls into place. The feelings they had for each other in high school but never acted on are still there and stronger than ever. It was easy for them to confess and then fall in love. If only Skye's psycho ex-boyfriend wasn't in the picture.
